Scope
The Following specification provides a technical description of CSV 15 (Mini UAV) and its related systems.
2
CSV 15
CSV 15 is a short range - UAV. It can be preprogrammed to fly along pre-selected GPS way points with autopilot flight, and where the GPS waypoints can be updated from the GCS during the mission, or by manual take over at any time
3
GCS II
The GCS II is the type ground control station for a two man operational system, which has been developed from the GCS I, the static / cabin enclosed unit which is configurable for use over our full range of surveillance and target UAV’s. 3.1
Mission
The System is the tactical imagery intelligence asset for battalion and below operations to a range of around 10 – 20 kms . It will be able to execute imagery intelligence missions in the full time operations. 3.2
Operational Concept
The System will be an imagery intelligence asset equipped for daylight operation, ( night sensor payload optional extra) to support an Infantry Battalion. It shall conduct battlefield reconnaissance and surveillance to provide early warning and tactical information of the enemy. \it is packaged in a small container, usually within a trailer / launcher unit and operated by a team of 3 or 4 men, it shall fly to the area of interest to collect real time imagery intelligence. 3.3
System Configuration
The basic System will comprise of Ground Control Station (GCS) and 3 x mission aircraft, 3 x Day Camera payloads, a robust datalink subsystem. The GCS can be supplied in 2 options, first as a tablet PC or as a fixed built-in unit in the transportation vehicle. Tablet configuration would allow for operation by smaller team where it is paramount for rapid re-deployment. This mode does have a more limited range of operation.

System Description
4.1
System Configuration
System configuration consists either of a GCS as a portable tablet PC or a fixed desktop PC mounted in a vehicle both with facilities for a catapult launch. There are communication links between GCS and A/V. TASUMA will provide operating documents with all products.
4.2
Ground Control Station
The GCS II when portable is ruggedized tablet type computer unit with color display and controller facility. The desk-top version is rack mounted in the control vehicle. In both options, the GCS shall have capability of providing the functionality listed in the Functional Capability sections below. 4.2.1
GCS
4.2.2
Functional Capability
4.2.2.1 Mission Planning The GCS shall be capable of UAV mission route planning on the digital map using following functions. Flight plan way point data shall be graphically entered It shall be capable of editing old mission plans and storing them on a disk for future use Flight plans shall consist of legs such that each leg can be modified, added or deleted Each leg shall be controllable in airspeed, altitude, and payload on/off control, and data link on/off control Entry of up to 100 way points per flight plan shall be possible Mission flight plans shall be loaded into the UAV before or during the flight 4.2.2.2 Flight Control Modes The GCS shall provide the following UAV flight control modes Autopilot Mode Manual control Mode Preprogrammed Mode Point Navigation Mode Return Home Mode

4.2.2.3 Digital Map Display The GCS provides a digital map display and overlay the following annotations on the map;: UAV position Payload viewing footprint The trace of UAV flight Mission plan flight path Point Navigation Waypoint Notes 4.2.2.4 Real time Image display & position display The Image Screen on the display unit shall provide an image display of the following: North direction vector. GPS Coordinates date(year, month, day) Airspeed Altitude. 4.2.2.5 Touch monitor & Panel Ruggedized Tablet PC with stylus touch actuation for ease of operation. Similar for fixed in-vehicle option 4.2.2.6 Communication Unit The Communication Unit consists of the UHF Modem and the 2.4GHz Receiver, image transmitter to control A/V and to receive image from A/V.
4.2.2.7 Digital Map The system shall have the capability to load digital raster maps(CVRRG or CADRG) and the digital terrain elevation data(DTED) provided by the customer. Coordinates and elevation of a selected point on the maps shall be displayed on the screen. System shall be able to select appropriate map and the scale to position air vehicle location at the center of the screen. According to search area, map selection shall be done automatically without any need of operator involvement. System shall calculate the coordinates in UTM and geographical coordinate system. System shall be able to transform UTM and GP, MGRS coordinate system to each other and select different map scales.
