Function descriptions Frico controls Page 1(11) Function descriptions General Frico control levels 1, 2 and 3 For water and electrical heating Water heating - Level 1 Description Airflow is regulated manually. Room thermostat controls the water flow on/off via actuator and valve. Complete regulation kit - CB30N, control box, controls the airflow in 3 steps - RTE102, room thermostat IP30 (option KRT1900, IP55) - VR20/25, set of valves (option only actuator/valve SD20/TVV20 or TVV25) Settings Control panel CB30: For air curtain function fan step 3 should be used. If the sound level or velocity needs to be reduced step 2 could be used. For heating function step 1 could be used, but it will seriously decrease the air curtain function. Thermostat RTE102: The thermostat should be set at the desired room temperature, for example 20 °C. The knob is hidden under the housing. Adjustment valve JVF20/25 (included in VR20/25): The water flow should be set according to heat output/water flow calculations for the current water temperatures. Function descriptions Frico controls Page 2(11) Water heating - Level 2 Description Airflow and heat output are controlled automatically based on the room temperature and the status of the door. When the door is open the fan runs on selected fan step 2 or 3. When the door closes the fan will continue to run for the desired time (1 s–10 min) set on the door contact. When the door is closed the fan runs on fan step 1 if there is a need for heating, if not the fan is switched off. The 2-step room thermostat controls the water flow on/off via actuator and valve. Complete regulation kit - CB30N, control box, controls the airflow in 3 steps - MDC, magnetic door contact with time delay - RTI2, 2-step room thermostat (option KRT2800) - VR20/25, set of valves (option only actuator/valve SD20/TVV20 or TVV25) Settings Control panel CB30N: Fan speed control: step 3 (alternatively step 2 if the sound level or velocity needs to be reduced) Thermostat RTI2: All adjustments are made inside the housing. The desired room temperature at open door is set on the big knob inside the casing. This temperature should be a little bit higher than the actual room temperature to make sure heating is always turned on when the door opens. 23 °C is a recommended setting. The desired room temperature when the door is closed is set with the blue knob “diff. steps” and the big wheel in combination. The setting on the big wheel minus the “diff. steps” setting gives the room temperature. E.g. with the big wheel set on 23 °C and the “diff. steps” knob set on 4 °C gives a desired room temperature setting of 19 °C. Magnetic door contact MDC: Over run delay time should be set to approximately 3-5 minutes on the knob +/- inside the housing. Adjustment valve JVF20/25: The water flow should be set according to heat output/water flow calculations for the current water temperatures. Function descriptions Frico controls Page 3(11) Water heating - Level 3 Description The Level 3 controls are ready to run as soon as they have been set up. Little or no adjustment of the preset parameters need to be made. The control is automatic and normally it needs not to be shut off or maintained in any way. It is, however, a good idea to let the air curtain run for a few weeks after installation to evaluate the way it is working, and not until then change the parameters. Airflow and heat output are controlled automatically based on the status of the door, outdoor temperature and room temperature. When the door is open the fan speed increases depending on the outdoor temperature, and the water flow on/off is controlled via actuator and valve by the outdoor temperature. In the summer the air curtain will be running without heat to prevent the chilled air from escaping the building. There is an adjustable over run time that keeps the fan running between door openings. When the door is closed the fan runs on low speed, controlled by the room temperature. Also the water flow on/off is controlled via actuator and valve by the room temperature. Complete regulation kit - ADEA, regulator (complete with outdoor sensor, built-in room sensor and door contact) - ADEAEB, control board for external mounting or ADEAIB for internal mounting (AD300/400 only) - ADEAGD extra control card is needed with 24V regulation (AG, AGV, RD, SF and Gelu or for BMS control) - VR20/25, set of valves (option only actuator/valve SD20/TVV20 or TVV25) Function descriptions Frico controls Page 4(11) Settings for all water heated units except AD Corinte When starting the ADEA for the first time the right program must be selected in the PRO.V setting. Settings Control panel CB32: For air curtain function fan step 3 should be used. If the sound level or velocity needs to be reduced step 2 could be used. For heating function step 1 could be used, but it will seriously decrease the air curtain function. The heat should normally be set to step 2 to use the full power. If there are any electrical supply restrictions or less heat is needed step 1 can be used. Together with full fan speed heating step 1 may not make the air feel warm. Thermostat RTI2: All adjustments are made inside the housing. The big wheel should be set at desired room temperature, e.g. around 20 °C. The small knob sets the difference between the steps and should be set at around 1-2 °C. Make sure only the bridges drawn on the appropriate wiring diagram are there, all others must be removed. Thermostat RTI2 The LED L2 indicates that the first step has been switched, meaning the actual room temperature is below the temperature set on the big wheel. When the temperature falls even more the second step switches and the LED L3 is lit. Magnetic door contact MDC The green LED indicates that an open door signal has been received from the door contact. The red LED indicates that the relays are tripped, so that the contact between terminals 11-14 (21-24 and 31-34 also) is closed. When the red LED is out the contact between 11-12 (21-22 and 31-32 also) is closed. The red LED will remain lit as long as the door stays open and until the over run time is finished. The magnetic sensor is NC meaning that the contact is closed when the magnet does not affect the contact. This means that when the door closes and the magnet and contact are close to each other the contact is open. The magnet and the contact needs to be carefully positioned to work properly. The right position is when both parts have the text facing the same direction. They must not be mounted more than 10 mm apart. Make sure to try out the positioning and to see that the green LED is really out when the door is closed. Make sure all bridges drawn on the appropriate wiring diagram are connected. ADEAEB When the thermal contacts from the motors are not connected to the ADEAEB the terminals 40-41 must be bridged.
