Product brief OPS+
Future-Proofed Flexibility and Performance for Commercial Displays Intel’s new OPS+ for pluggable media players speeds deployment and supports multiple generations of designs and services. Creating display solutions that deliver lasting value From education to retail to city streets, businesses depend more and more on sophisticated systems of digital displays to communicate and collaborate like never before. From delivering real-time, location-based advertising, to interactive fitting-room experiences, to virtual collaboration and learning spaces, connected digital displays can change the way we experience the world. Intel launched the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) as a way to bring standardization to the highly fragmented media player market. OPS has allowed for more cost-effective design, deployment, and management of displays from the world’s leading manufacturers. Now, with quickly evolving resolution standards and more use cases on the horizon, Intel is announcing a specification that anticipates these demands: OPS+. Intel’s new OPS+ offers future-proofed capabilities for a wide range of new functionality, like support for 8K resolution content and simultaneous display and broadcast usages. By utilizing a broader range of powerful Intel® processors, a simplified architecture, and a backward-compatible high-speed connector, OPS+ expands the opportunities for custom digital display solutions.
A broader range of compute platforms
“Intel’s OPS+ based modules that JWIPC is creating will allow our customers to design intelligent, integrated display solutions that can generate new experiences for consumers and new business models for our customers.” Miss. X.Z Zhu
Marketing Director of JWIPC
Intel’s OPS+ incorporates improved thermal design to expand the list of processors that can be integrated into digital displays. Manufacturers now have the option of including the powerful line of Intel® Xeon® processors, a range of desktop processors, and Intel® field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for exceptional speed and customization. Expanded compute options open the door to more use cases, like interactive whiteboards that allow for simultaneous video broadcast, or real-time audience analytics integrated directly into a display solution.
High-speed connector, higher resolutions OPS+ enables higher bandwidth and higher resolution content with a second high-speed connector. It will support 8K content as this ultrahigh resolution eventually becomes the new standard for video, and can drive three single 4K displays from the same interface for the efficient creation of large-scale digital displays.
Easily integrates into custom designs With no cables and a simplified architecture, OPS+ accommodates a wide range of display designs. It maintains the small form factor established by OPS with dimensions of just 180 mm x 119 mm x 30 mm while fully enclosed.

“The Open Pluggable Specification has allowed Honghe to provide exceptional multimedia teaching solutions to educational users, including interactive display panels, interactive whiteboards, digital signal systems, class recording systems, and more. Now, with the new scalable performance that Intel’s OPS+ makes possible, Honghe can meet the growing needs of our customers by creating innovative solutions for new usage models that demand higher processing capabilities.” Long Xudong
Vice President Director, Beijing Honghe Technology Group
Powerful device management
Future-proofed for long-term value
Often, the true cost of a digital display solution isn’t in the implementation, but in its management. OPS+ offers the seamless device management that only Intel can offer.
Systems of intelligent, connected displays are doing far more than just playing videos. A video wall can inform a retailer in real time who is engaging with their advertising. An interactive whiteboard can simultaneously capture a lecture and broadcast it to a remote location.
Hardware-based security measures As digital displays become more central to business operations, and as they take over duties in healthcare and retail, it’s imperative that they be protected with the highest degree of security possible. Intel’s OPS+, by incorporating the latest in Intel® hardware-based security, can help keep digital displays from being a point of vulnerability for the businesses that employ them.
OPS+ from Intel is speeding time to market for displays that meet these emerging demands. Now display manufacturers have more flexibility in form factors and performance than ever before, while maintaining the cost-saving simplification of having a standard architecture.

1. OPS+ modules plug into both OPS+ and OPS displays. Intel technologies’ features and benefits depend on system configuration and may require enabled hardware, software or service activation. Performance varies depending on system configuration. No computer system can be absolutely secure. Check with your system manufacturer or retailer or learn more at intel.com. Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors. Performance tests, such as SYSmark and MobileMark, are measured using specific computer systems, components, software, operations and functions. Any change to any of those factors may cause the results to vary. You should consult other information and performance tests to assist you in fully evaluating your contemplated purchases, including the performance of that product when combined with other products.
