Compact DVR with 30 GB HDD & Motion Detection INTRODUCTION Building on the same technology, as our popular E-M5VDR, the new E-M8DVR has the same features, but with the addition of a 1.8” 30 GB HDD. This DVR is the ideal recorder for applications which have space-restrictions and require a small recorder with motion activated recording for 24 hours or more. The size of the screen has also been increased from a 2.5” to a 3.5”’.

COMPACT SIZE Extremely compact, the E-M8DVR has an aluminium-mag-alloy metal case and has been built to withstand the ruggedness required by investigators and/or security users. Ideal for portable applications or for installation in small cramped spaces, the E-M8DVR has a 2 hour internal battery or can be powered from AC via the included adaptor. Approximately half the size of a VCR cassette, the DVR can be easily hidden for covert operations.

RECORDING The unit is configured by an on-screen-display menu with user friendly controls. For recording activation, the E-M8DVR has a single button for easy recording activation. With the single button activation, use of the recorder by non-technical operators is made easier. The E-M8DVR also features internal software motion detection. When used in this mode, the DVR only records when there is movement in front of the camera. Configurable in the menu, the user can also configure the DVR for schedule activated recording, or continuous recording. Users have the option of recording to the internal 30GB HDD or to an SD card which can be inserted. Typically on the internal HDD, users can get a full 24 hour day. Alternatively, on a 1 GB SD card, the E-M8DVR can record for ±60 minutes. PLAYBACK Recordings can be played back via the AV output to a standard monitor or VCR. Alternatively video clips can be exported to a PC via the USB port. If you are using an SD card, this can simply be removed and inserted into a reader or stored for future evidence purposes. The unit records files in a standard .AVI format and can be played back using standard video for windows players. Unlike other PVRs, this unit has a time/date stamp which is overlayed onto the video. Time/Date is essential for investigators and law enforcement officials. A special new feature is the insertion of a digital counter onto the video. This is useful for evidence purposes to prove a frame or frames have not been removed or added. SPECIAL FEATURES As the E-M8DVR has been specially designed for surveillance applications not simply as a multi-media recorder, it has many special features. One of the main faults with other PVRs is when the PVRs battery runs-out, then the unit switches off and the file in many cases becomes corrupted. With the E-M8VDR, the unit shuts down and saves the file before the battery is depleted. When a fresh battery is inserted and the unit is switched on again, it resumes from the mode it was in when switched off. Another important feature is that of the voltage output for a covert camera. With the E-M8DVR, one can power our 5 VDC covert E-HEADCAM with the recorder for ±120 minutes. The voltage output is on the same connector as the video/audio. This makes connections simpler and easier for the operator.
