Batteries should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage.
SETTING UP YOUR PASSWORD PHONE™ 1. Remove the screw on the battery compartment door (located on the back of your Password Phone). Remove the battery compartment door and insert three (3) AA batteries (we recommend alkaline) with the negative (-) ends against the springs. NOTE: Notice the pinhole below the battery compartment. Should you ever need to reset your phone, insert a straightened paper clip into the pinhole and push down firmly. 2. Replace battery compartment door. 3. Using the phone cord provided, plug the Password Phone into the telephone outlet already installed in your home. NOTE: If there isn’t a telephone outlet installed where you want to use your Password Phone, you will need to have one installed. ADULT SUPERVISION IS RECOMMENDED WHEN INSTALLING BATTERIES AND PLUGGING IN YOUR PASSWORD PHONE.

RECORDING YOUR PASSWORD 1. Turn your Password Phone on by pressing the Talk/Off button. A yellow light will glow when your Password Phone is turned on. 2. The first time you turn on your Password Phone, you will be asked to “Record your password”. When prompted and green light inside directory compartment comes on, speak your password into the mic. 3. You will be asked to “Repeat your password”. Again, speak your password into the mic. If your password has been accepted, you will hear “Password accepted” and your Password Phone will go to the Add mode. If your password wasn’t accepted, you will be prompted to “Please begin again” and you will need to repeat steps 2 and 3. To change your password at a later time, press the Set Password button and repeat steps 2-3 above.
ADDING NAMES AND PHONE NUMBERS Your Password Phone can store up to 10 phone numbers, selectable by simply saying your friend’s name. After recording your password, your Password Phone will automatically switch to the Add mode where you add friends to your phone list. 1. You will be asked to “Record your friend’s name”. When prompted and green light inside directory compartment comes on, speak your friend’s name into the mic. 2. You will be asked to “Please repeat name”. Again, speak your friend’s name into the mic. If the name has been accepted, you will hear “Name accepted”. If not, you will hear “Please begin again” and you will need to repeat steps 1 and 2 again. 3. Once you hear “Name accepted”, you will then be prompted to “Press numbers, then press pound”. Using the keypad, enter that friend’s phone number followed by the # key. 4. You will hear “Number accepted”. To add another friend, press the Add button. To exit the Add Mode, press the Escape (*) Key. If you would like to add more friends’ numbers at a later time, you can return to the Add Mode by pressing the Add button, then repeating the steps above. If you already have 10 friends in your directory, you won’t be able to add any more or make changes to your list until you have erased an old entry. NOTE: Since your Password Phone cannot repeat your friend’s name, only the number corresponds to that friend (Example: “friend three”), it is important that you write your friend’s name, in pencil, next to the appropriate number, in the Phone Directory.
ERASING INDIVIDUAL NAMES AND PHONE NUMBERS 1. Press the Erase button. 2. When prompted to “Name your friend” and green light inside directory compartment comes on, speak the name of the friend that you would like to erase into the mic. 3. Your Password Phone will respond by stating the list order number and the phone number of that friend. Example: “Friend one: 555-5555” 4. You will then be prompted to “Press erase to erase friend’s number”. If that number is the one that you want to erase, press the Erase button and your Password Phone will confirm that the number was erased by saying “Erase accepted”. If that number wasn’t the one you wanted to erase, press the Escape (*) button and start over. NOTE: When you erase a friend from your list, the spot occupied by that friend will become blank and the next addition that you make will automatically be entered in the first available spot in your list. For example, if your phone list has nine entries (1-9) and you erase entry 3, the next time you make a new entry, that entry will automatically be placed in spot 3.
ERASING ALL NAMES AND PHONE NUMBERS 1. Press and hold the Erase button down for six seconds. 2. You will then be prompted to “Press erase to erase all numbers”. Press the Erase button again and your Password Phone will confirm that all numbers were erased by saying “Erase accepted”. If you do not want to erase, press the Escape (*) button.
PLAYING BACK YOUR PHONE LIST Press the List button. Your phone list is played back in the order that you entered them. To exit from the list, press the Escape (*) button at any time or wait until all entries have been played back and your Password Phone will automatically exit the list.
USING YOUR PASSWORD PHONE™ • Talk/Off - Press this button to answer or to hang up from a call. Also, use this button to place a call using the keypad. • Password ON/OFF (see Password Key / Directory Compartment diagram for button location) - Pressing this button will switch your Password Phone between Password ON and Password OFF modes. Each time you press this button you will be prompted for “Your password please”. Only you can switch your Password Phone between Password ON and Password OFF modes. In the Password ON mode, all of the features of your Password Phone are password protected so that nobody, other than you, can even dial a number manually to place a call. NOTE: The emergency number, “911”, and the operator number, “0”, will never be disabled. Anyone needing to call these numbers will be able to dial them from your Password Phone without a password.
In the Password OFF mode, anyone will be able to manually dial and answer your Password Phone. The phone list and password features will not be accessible. • Call - Press this button to place a call to someone on your phone list. You will be prompted to “Name your friend”. After you speak your friend’s name, your Password Phone will tell you that friend’s phone number and begin dialing it. If you speak a name that is not currently on your list, you will hear the message, “Error, please begin again”. • Ringer - Each time you press this button your Password Phone will switch between one of three ringer options. Your options are: Ringing sound, Hello sound, and Silent with flashing Ring indicator light. • Volume - This button adjusts the volume of the earpiece. • Flash - Press this button to access a call waiting call when you are on another call. (Call waiting requires activation from your local phone company.) • Eaves Drop Alert - If someone else in your house picks up another phone while you are on a phone call, your Password Phone will let you know by sounding an alarm. • Intruder Alert - If someone else has tried to use your Password Phone or access your phone list while your phone was in the Password On mode, you will be informed of it the next time you turn your phone on and speak your password. • Security - Sliding this switch between “hi” and “lo” controls how precisely your Password Phone recognizes your voice. If you are experiencing problems with getting your phone to recognize your password or your friend’s names, switching to “lo” security may help. • Password Key / Directory Compartment - This compartment is where you’ll find the SET PASSWORD, CALL, LIST, ADD, ERASE, and PASSWORD ON / OFF buttons.There is also an area provided for you to write in to keep track of your phone list.
TROUBLESHOOTING If you are having trouble getting your Password Phone to recognize your password, try switching to the lo security mode.
REPLACING THE BATTERIES 1. Remove the screw on the battery compartment door (located on the back of your Password Phone). Remove the battery compartment door. Remove the old batteries. Insert three (3) AA batteries (we recommend alkaline) with the negative (-) ends against the springs. You will have one minute to replace the old batteries before your password and phone list is lost. Should you lose your information, you will need to reenter it as described earlier.

If problems still continue, consult your warranty card for replacement instructions. • Use only the recommended type of batteries. • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not use rechargeable batteries. • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. • Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. • Remove any exhausted batteries from the unit. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity. 90-DAY LIMITED WARRANTY This product is warranted by Radica Games, Ltd. for a period of 90 days from the original purchase under normal use against defective workmanship and materials (batteries excluded). This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accident, unreasonable use, negligence, improper service or other causes no arising out of defects in material or workmanship. Radica Games, Ltd. will not be liable for any costs incurred due to loss of use of this product or other incidental or consequential costs, expenses or damages incurred by the purchaser. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives your specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights which may vary from state to state. During this 90-day warranty period, the phone will either be repaired or replaced (at our option) without charge to the purchaser when returned prepaid with proof of date of purchase to: Radica USA, Ltd., 13628-A Beta Road, Dallas, Texas 75244, USA. Please remove the batteries and wrap the unit carefully before shipping. Please include a brief description of the problem along with your return address and mail it postage prepaid. Products returned after the 90-day period has expired will be repaired or replaced (at our option) for a service charge of US $10.00. Payment must be made by check or money order. This extended service will only be available for one year from the date of purchase. IMPORTANT: Before returning the unit for repair, test it with fresh alkaline batteries. Even new batteries may be defective or weak and low battery power is a frequent cause of unsatisfactory operation.
