Cabletypes for UPS software GENEREX UNIX port cables are to be used only with potential free relais UPS and with „no modem“ control settings at their tty ports. Modem port cables are used with any standard PC serial layout or with UNIX systems supporting full compatibility and GENEREX version above 3.x.

OPTI-UPS – SINETEC – ONLINE ZINTO D For ZINTO D (our PS series), the use of pins are built in the circuit layout and we are not using pin2, 3 & 5 for send, receive & ground. The detailed function for pins are showed in our PS manual page18 as enclosed in the sample shipment. Here I list below for your reference. PIN1: UPS simulates a relay opening between pin 1 and pin 4 when input power fails. PIN2: UPS simulates a relay closing between pin 2 and pin 4 when input power fails. PIN3: UPS sends an RS-232 high (12V) within 1 second after input power fails. Pin 3 is normally at RS232 low level (-8V) PIN4: Common ground. PIN5: UPS simulates a relay closing when the battery inside the UPS has less than 2 minutes backup time left. PIN6: User sends a RS232 high level (5-15V) for 3 secs. This signal will turn off the UPS until proper input voltage returns. It can operate only if UPS is in battery mode. This pin is also used as the RS232 receiver pin (RXD) PIN7: Common ground. PIN8: (reserved) PIN9: RS232 transmitter pin (TXD) Note: 1.) pin 1,2 and pin 5 are open collector outputs which must be pulled up to a common referenced supply, switch rating: +40V, 0.15A non-inductive) 2.) pin 4 and 7 should only be connected to ground. Therefore, it's impossible to use 1:1 cable.

In the front under the input terminal strip there are two tank connectors: Cannon 15-pin female marked REMOTE. Cannon 25-pin male marked RS232.

On the connector there are: Nr. 1 aux power 12Vdc 80mA(max) Nr. 3 Voltage free exchange contacts for alarms Nr. 2 Controls for turning off INVERTER and UPS. The pin arrangement of the connector is as follows (see figure opposite): A DISCHARGE END PREALARM B BATTERY DISCHARGING C BY-PASS/FAILURE The contact positions shown is without alarm (NORMAL OPERATION). The relay contacts can carry a current of 0.5A-42V. REMOTE COMMANDS Two commands are available as follows: BY-PASS with STOP INVERTER command. Connecting pin 8 to pin 15 (after at least 10 seconds). UPS LOCKUP command. Connecting pin 7 to pin 15 (after at least 10 seconds).

Adapter from old AS400 UPS cable to new IBM I Series UPS interface: To connect the old AS 400 UPS cable to the new IBM I Series (buitl after 5/2005) you must purchase from IBM an adapter, IBM partnumber "1827".
On 9406 iSeries model 520, the UPS connector is P1-T2.
Serial port to UPS conversion cable: The new cable is a short “converter cable”. It physically attaches to one of the serial ports at the back of iSeries models 520/550/570. The 1827 converter cable is a 140mm (5.5 in.) serial port to UPS cable for iSeries models 520, 550 and 570. These models have no longer the J14 UPS connector. Instead, UPS communications to the iSeries is supported through a designated serial port via the 1827 converter cable. The serial port supports two models: RS232 serial port mode and UPS mode. Only one mode is supported at a time. The service processor will detect the presence of an UPS attached through serial port via the 1827 cable when the server is started and set the control hardware to condition the signals for the UPS. The mode cannot be changed unless the system is started again. The following figure shows the converter cable wiring:

If one of the alarms ( bypass in progress, battery under voltage , AC failure) occures releated contacts will be closed.(Contacts named A,B,C) and the summary alarm contact will be closed.
The sixth pin of the female dsub connector is an input pin. If logic high (+5VDC between pins 6-7) voltage is applied to this pin , UPS will go to remote shutdown mode.
