FiberXport® OCG-16m Modular managed Ethernet Gateway with integrated Voice over IP
Genexis
The OCG-16m modular managed Ethernet Gateway, with integrated Voice-over-IP (VoIP), is part of the FiberXport® product family. Together with the FiberXport® base unit and the OCG12m CATV receiver, it allows for triple play services on a fiber-to-the-home infrastructure in a single user unit. The OCG-16m has been developed by Genexis to enable quality voice and managed Ethernet services over a fiber-to-the-home network at lowest cost. Plug-and-play The OCG-16m module plugs directly onto the FiberXport® FXP-10 base unit, which houses the fiber management section and the optional OCG-12m CATV receiver for broadcast video services. The OCG-16m provides the user with 4 managed Ethernet ports that can support a wide range of Ethernet/IP services transparently. In addition, 2 RJ11 ports can connect directly to standard telephones and faxes. Automatic provisioning ensures the module is ready for operation within a few seconds after poweron. The OCG-16m is designed for full interoperability with central office switches from leading manufacturers. Architecture The heart of the OCG-16m module is formed by our non-blocking managed ethernet switch, featuring Quality of Service (QoS) support. The switch has a 100 Mbps fiber-based uplink (WAN port) that utilizes a single fiber to connect to the central office. This bidirectional connection uses two different wavelengths to separate uplink and downlink traffic and is fully compliant with the Ethernet-to-the-First-Mile (EFM) standard. The switch automatically routes IP-data traffic to four non-blocking, managed QoS ports at its LAN-side, capable of handling speeds up to 100 Mbps. QoS is supported with four traffic classes. This enables a variety of prioritized packet streams, such as voice, video and data to be provisioned according to the service requirements. Voice traffic is automatically routed to the OCG-16m internal Voice-over-IP gateway with the highest priority. Our gateway uses Session-Initiation-Protocol (SIP) to handle the voice streams and to convert the signals into conventional standard telephony on the two RJ-11 ports. The Genexis VoIP platform has been tested with a variety of SIP-based telephone servers from leading vendors. Data ports The OCG-16m is equipped with four 100 Mbps RJ-45 data ports that can connect to a variety of devices with 10/100Base TX ethernet interfaces. All ports are autonegotiating, non-blocking and have a range of 100 meters. Each port is capable of supporting the widest range of IP services such as Internet, gaming, and IP-video. Furthermore VLAN support is provided for optimum network security. Voice ports The OCG-16m features two voice ports on RJ-11 connectors. Conventional analog phones and standard faxes can be directly connected to these ports. In this way existing home telephone networks can be easily connected. Up to 5 phones can be connected to each voice port. The OCG-16m voice architecture supports 2 simultaneous phone calls over 2 separate accounts and a wide range of telephone features. Each voice port can be switched on or off remotely. Automatic configuration Please contact us to discuss how our automatic provisioning system can be integrated within your network.
