VW2010 MPEG-1, 2 & 4Audio/Video CODEC Preliminary Product Brief Vweb, a leading provider of video compression and decompression chips, has created the VW2010, a simultaneous MPEG-1, 2, 4 and H.263 A/V compression/decompression (CODEC) chip. The VW2010 accepts uncompressed audio & video, compresses them and outputs them as transport streams for network applications or program streams for storage applications. In addition, the VW210 accepts compressed audio & video, decompresses them and separately outputs uncompressed audio and video. The video encoder accepts ITU-R BT.656 digital video, filters the input and compresses the video into MPEG-1, 2, 4 or H.263 formats. The audio encoder accepts I2S digital audio, filters the input and compresses the audio into MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3, AAC, AC-3 or G.7xxx audio formats. The video decoder accepts an MPEG bit-stream and outputs ITU-R.BT 656 digital video. The audio decoder accepts an MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3, AAC, AC-3 or G.7xxx bit-stream and outputs I2S, SP-DIF or IEC-1937. Using Vweb’s patent-pending motion estimation and rate control algorithms, Vweb is able to create high-quality MPEG products. The VW2010 is the latest in the line of MPEG products from Vweb. Its features include:

3 Feature/Benefits Table Features
Benefits
• Uses less than 8MB of external SDRAM • Proprietary motion estimation search • Easy to setup and configure
Saves Money & Power
• The rate control algorithm monitors 60 different variables, which results in a more consistent GOP structure; thus, scene changes are handled well. • Dynamically programmable frame rates, bit rates, resolution and GOP structure. • Transcoding & Transrating among MPEG-1, 2 & 4 and H.263 • MPEG-4 Full-D1 Interlaced CODEC • Low latency support • H.263-baseline support
Decreases time to market Superior Video Quality
• Transcoding/Transrating among MPEG-1, 2 and 4 • Video distribution over DSL, Cable, Ethernet, Fiber and Wireless Networks • Video conferencing • Digital surveillance • Video on demand servers
