•
Released June 26th, 2008
Release details In the following enhancement descriptions, a revision category letter is placed to the left of the description. Refer to the Appendix at the end of this document for a description of the categories displayed.
Enhancements E
Improved Ring Only Mode (ROM) recovery time The Multilink firmware version 3.0.0 has been enhanced to support typical ring recovery times of <5ms / hop when properly implemented in Ring Only Mode. All switches in a ring must use Firmware v3.0.0 or greater if any one of the switches contain v3.0.0. Switches in a ring can use a mix of Firmware revisions if all are below v3.0.0

Overview
Ring Only Mode now configurable to specific Ethernet ports
Multilink Ethernet Switch 3.0.0 release notes
Firmware v3.0.0 supports configuration of ports as part of the ring or as non-ring ports N
Faster Rapid Spanning Tree (RSTP) recovery time The Multilink firmware version 3.0.0 has been enhanced to provide faster recovery times when using the RSTP protocol All switches in the network must use the same Firmware revision if any one of the switches contain v3.0.0 or extended recovery times may be observed.
N
Support for the NEW UR Switch module The Multilink Secure Web Management (SWM) interface has been enhanced to support the new UR switch module.
E
Validation of switch IP address during configuration The switch configuration been enhanced to protect against the programming of incorrect IP addresses. When an IP address is entered for the switch, the switch will check to ensure that the address falls within the programmed subnet mask. If the IP address is not within the subnet, the switch will not allow the new IP address to be saved.
N
New Kill Config option for restoring factory default configuration The Kill Config option allows users to selectively restore parts of the switches configuration back to the factory default. Options include: 1) 2) 3) 4)
Return to factory defaults Return to factory defaults but maintain IP and Subnet Mask Return to factory defaults but maintain Port Configurations Return to factory defaults and maintain STP/RSTP settings.
The Kill Config option can be found in the Secure Web Management interface, under Administration and Restore Defaults E
IPv6 address configuration available in Web Management interface The Secure Web Management interface has been enhanced to include IP address settings for IPv6 networks. Previously this setting was only available in the Command Line Interface.

Overview
Appendix Change categories This document uses the following categories to classify the changes. Table 1: Revision categories Code
Category
Comments
N
New feature
A separate feature added to the relay. Changes to existing features even if they significantly expand the functionality are not in this category
G
Change
A neutral change that does not bring any new value and is not correcting any known problem
E
Enhancement
Modification of an existing feature bringing extra value to the application
D
Changed, incomplete or false faceplate indications
Changes to, or problems with text messages, LEDs and user pushbuttons
R
Changed, incomplete or false relay records
Changes to, or problems with relay records (oscillography, demand, fault reports, etc.)
C
Protocols and communications
Changes to, or problems with protocols or communication features
M
Metering
Metering out of specification or other metering problems
P
Protection out of specification
Protection operates correctly but does not meet published specifications (example: delayed trip)
U
Unavailability of protection
Protection not available in a self-demonstrating way so that corrective actions could be taken immediately
H
Hidden failure to trip
Protection may not operate when it should
F
False trip
Protection may operate when it should not
B
Unexpected restart
Relay restarts unexpectedly
The revision category letter is placed to the left of the change description.
