GigaSMART: Providing the industry’s first packet modification solution, the GigaSMART blade will help optimize the performance of analysis tools, enhance security and improve compliance. Four current software packages are supported: packet slicing, masking, network port labeling and time stamping. Benefits of such features include eliminating processing and storage bottlenecks, enhancing security of network tools, helping pinpoint critical network performance issues and easily filter based on network source information. The GigaSMART module is supported on the 2404 platform as a plug-in module. A single 2404 system can be populated with up to two (2) GigaSMART blades. A single blade provides up to 2x10Gbps line rate packet modification functionality, with up to 4x10Gbps with two blades in a single chassis. *See ordering information below.

Standard Ports and Expansions GigaSMART blade has 6x10Gbps physical ports on the module. Supports the following transceiver types: • 10GigE SFP+ (SR/LR/ER/LRM) speed 10,000Mbps • GigE SFP (optical SX/LX/ZX) speed 1000Mbps • GigE SFP copper (RJ45) speed 1000Base-T only *Note: All ports on a 2404 system (ie 1-24 & g1-g4) can utilize the GigaSMART blade features. Not limited to 6 10Gbps ports on the blade itself.
Deployment Plug-in module for GigaVUE-2404 only. Up to 2 GigaSMART modules per 2404 system

Time Stamping • Packet time stamps at line rate for subsequent analysis
Heat/Power Dissipation:
• Supports network time protocol (NTP), GPS or local time setting on GigaVUE • Synchronizes data more accurately to enhance Quality of Service (QoS) timing • Allows network analysis to be performed at one location, instead of at various network endpoints
