Global Power Distribution Frame Model J86334E-1 The J86334E-1 Global Power Distribution Frame (GPDF) provides a vital service in telecommunication power systems, providing enhanced protection for sensitive electronics in highvalue switching equipment such as the 5ESS® switch. Built-In Safeguards The GPDF is a secondary distribution and filtering bay for –48 Vdc power. Functionally, it is designed to reduce bulk source power (480 A per panel) to usable, lower-amperage levels. Moreover, the GPDF guards against potentially damaging voltage drops during fuse-clearing events by supplying a reliable capacitance to safely maintain voltage levels within a specified range. For added safety and protection, the fuse panels are equipped with disconnect-style fuse holders, which additionally provide LED alarm indications for each fuse position. Redundant Power The GPDF provides redundant power through a dual bus arrangement. Each fuse panel contains two separate buses (A bus and B bus) with 24 fused output positions on each bus. Up to four identical fuse panels can be incorporated, providing a total of four A buses and four B buses, each rated for 480 A. The economical, high fuse-capacity J86334E-1 Global Power Distribution Frame provides enhanced protection for sensitive switching equipment. The increased capacity of the GPDF supports up to 192 fused output positions. Alternatively, a high-current fuse panel can be used to provide high-amperage distribution. The panel includes dual buses, each with four 50 A fuse positions. Automatic Restart The GPDF, with its unique fuse and fuse holder designs, is specifically intended to support auto power recovery (APR)*, enabling the system to self-start following a power loss. The need for a charge probe normally required for startup is eliminated, thereby eliminating the need for manual intervention.
