First of all, you’ll need to install the driver to your PC. If you are using Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 8 and you are connected to the internet, the driver software will loaded and installed automatically by Windows Update. If you are not connected to the internet or you are not using the above mentioned operating systems, you have to install the driver software manually. The detailed installing instructions could be found directly on the manufacturer homepage: FTDI chip - http://www.ftdichip.com/index.html Direct link to the instructions: http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/InstallGuides.htm The drivers modified by GOSSEN are not WHQL certified. Skip the corresponding error messages during the installation and proceed with the installation process. The required drivers for connecting the GOSSEN light measuring instrument to your computer are in the folder „driver“ on this installation CD. i386 for 32bit versions amd64 for 64bit versions After the successful installation of the driver software you will see a blinking measuring unit on the instrument. MAVO-MONITOR will also give an acoustic signal. You can proceed now with the installation of the GOSSEN gLux software.

Interface Description
The interface description is intended to provide programmers with assistance who want to control the measuring instruments with other applications (spreadsheet programs, databases etc.), or read data out from the measuring instruments. Devices included in the MAVO-USB product range are equipped with a serial port (USB 1.1, low speed). A USB <-> UART (FT232BM) supplied by Future Technology Devices Intl. (FTDI) is used as an interface module. Notes regarding programming this module can be accessed at the manufacturer’s website at http://www.ftdichip.com/, or the website of his German representative at http://www.unitronic.de/. The required device driver, as well as programming instructions, are included in the “\driver” directory on the Gossen CD ROM. Nearly all device functions and settings can be remote controlled with software via the interface. The respective device settings and confirmation messages are triggered by means of character strings (command frames) which are transmitted in ASCII code.
