CITY OF MONTROSE Job Description JOB TITLE: Golf Course Cart Runner Seasonal ______________________________________________________________________________ NON-EXEMPT, SEASONAL SALARY LEVEL: DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS LOCATION: GOLF COURSE REPORTS TO: GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT PREPARED BY: HUMAN RESOURCES REVISED DATE: 3/2014 ______________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: Under direction of the Golf Professional the Cart Runner provides optimal customer service to guests. Attempt to anticipate and fulfill customer needs in a variety of responsibilities as assigned which may include work in the cart barn, starting and or course play area. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • In a prompt, efficient, and professional manner provide a convenient method for guests to learn of unusual conditions that exist on the course. • Treat all guests, and employees with respect. Maintain friendly appearance. • Maintain cleanliness of work area. • Keep supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance. • Attend course play area throughout the day maintaining cleanliness. • Clean golf clubs and assist members with carrying clubs from starting area to cart. • Pick-up and break down course play area. • Follow all established cart paths, rights of way, and maintain and exhibit knowledge of proper golf course etiquette. • Always give the right of way to golfers whenever meeting up with carts on the path and consistently keeps noise levels down to a minimum so as not to upset/distract golfers. • Stage golf carts with golf bags as indicated. • Ensure guests are attended to in a prompt, efficient and personalized manner. • Review schedules for changes, calendar of events and club activities on a daily basis in order to respond to customer questions regarding the general information of facility. • Maintain staging area, driving range, and practice area set-up. • Receive guests at the end of round, record finish time and report it to the Golf Shop as needed • Clean and maintain golf carts and cart barn area. • Carry out starting and marshalling duties. • Bring guest golf bags to golf cart staging area. • Repair ball marks and fix divots as needed. • Attend all staff meetings as required by management. 1
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: First Aid, CPR and AED preferred. Valid Colorado Driver's License with acceptable driving record KNOWLEDGE OF: All schedules and tee times Course etiquette Interpersonal skills and possess a “customer first” mentality Basic software systems such as Microsoft operating system ABILITY TO: Operate a golf cart proficiently Develop and accurately maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions Listen and communicate with guests and staff Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public Understand and adhere to quality standards of safety Follow safety practices and recognize hazards Work weekend, holiday and evening shifts PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demands: Must possess ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, climb, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate with employees and the public. Must possess the strength to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds frequently, 75 pounds occasionally, and to lift overhead and push/pull or move lighter objects. Work Environment: Works primarily in an outdoor environment with exposure to heat, moisture and cold.
