Goodbye Pain, Hello Top Performance....in and out of the office. Remember when it didn’t hur t? Remember when you used to walk tall? Remember when you used to feel like an athlete? Is your back ‘killing you’? Do you ache when you get out of bed? Is stiffness and inflexibility holding back your best performance? IT’S PROBABLY THE WAY YOU SIT! MYTH: Too much sitting causes pain, disease and obesity! WRONG! Too much BAD SITTING causes pain, disease and obesity. Whereas sitting in a stable, aligned and well-supported position is positively GOOD for your health. Introducing: The Posture Perfect Office Chair The only chair that improves your general posture the more you sit in it... The only chair that prevents your sedentary habits ruining your back or impairing your performance – in the office or the sports field. Recommended by Physios, Osteopaths and Chiropractors “When I sat in this chair I could immediately notice the difference compared to the traditional lumbar support styles which I have tried in the past - its clever design makes sitting upright properly feel almost effortless. Highly recommended!” Brigitta Byrne - Doctor Of Chiropractic, BSc (Hons) Did you know? Your everyday chair is by far the commonest cause of poor posture and most types of back pain. The Posture Perfect Office Chair was invented for those office-bound heroes who have to sit most of the day but still want to be able to move, look and feel like they used to. Uniquely, this chair solves the problem of the chronic damage that daily sitting does to our health. Thanks to the PP’s unique design, your spine is actively elongated, not flexed forward or extended backwards (as traditional lumbar support will do). Its unique sitting position offers the user a host of benefits that come from sitting in a perfectly aligned position with ideal posture. What’s wrong with the chair I’ve already got? It either offers no support [A] or support in the wrong places – especially if it’s got conventional lumbar support [B] + [C] like most office chairs you see these days. Instead, the Posture Perfect Office Chair features crucial mid-back and pelvic support [D] allowing the user to actively lengthen their whole spine against gravity [D]. A B C D The Benefits • Rapid recovery from all posture-related spine, hip and shoulder problems • Engagement and integration of core muscles • Better breathing and therefore more relaxation and energy • Faster recover from exercise • Greater resilience to overuse injuries through better movement patterns • Improved looks: look alert, upright, athletic and ready for action Perfect Posture Chairs are ideal for: • Back pain sufferers • Executives or office workers who sit a lot • Recreational sports people with sedentary jobs • Competitive athletes looking for a winning edge • Models, Yoga/Pilates instructors for whom posture is crucial Right for you? The Posture Perfect Office chair is particularly recommended for those suffering from: • Poor posture • Low-back pain • Kyphotic hunch-back • ‘Forward head’ • Lack of abdominal tone • Weak pelvic floor muscles • Sciatica • Leg-length discrepancy • Neck and shoulder pain • And most other pains with a muscular-skeletal origin How it works The Posture Perfect Office Chair supports the user in two key areas to allow a fully elongated spine in a seated position. By supporting the spine in the mid-back and the upper pelvic area, the head, shoulder and hips can align one above the other (as shown below in diagrams B&C below). (For more technical details on this revolutionary way of sitting, please see the website where a fuller explanation is offered.) From this....................................to this! A B C Guarantee Buy today – and if you decide you don’t like it any time in the first 60 days we’ll pick it up again (at our expense) and give you a full refund. No quibbles, no arguments. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Support Pads Supports the user in a unique way to ensure the pelvis doesn’t round and the ribcage doesn’t drop when seated. Arms Sturdy adjustable arms allow the user to get into and out of the chair with greatest ease. Can also be retracted to allow chair seat to be positioned under the desk and to ensure user doesn’t lean on their elbows. Chair Back A sturdy construction design ensures no wobbling about as seen on standard office chairs. Back Angle Set at 95 degrees. Crucially, this is already adjusted to the optimal angle for seated posture. Sloping Seat A slight backwards slope stops the user slipping forwards down the seat and having to overuse their legs for support. Legs Wheels allow the user to easily position the chair close enough to the desk while maintaining easy access. Instructions for Use & Ergonomic Tips Three vital steps to a great posture • Setting up your office right • Setting up your chair right Head and body are straight To use your chair optimally it must be positioned optimally in relation to your work space. If you don’t do this you will compromise its benefits and may even cause yourself problems. You cannot blame the chair if you do comply with the following recommendations. Fingers are relaxed with wrists at a neutral position Two support pads are precisely placed to keep the spine fully extended 90˚ We still recommend that you stand up from your chair at least once every hour to walk around and maybe do a little stretching. This will maximise the benefits you get from the chair. No single posture (including lying down) is ideal when adopted for extended periods of time, as the body requires movement to revitalise its tissues and maintain adequate blood flow around the body. 90˚ Chair height adjusted to allow elbows to hang naturally at same level as work surface or keyboard Sitting in the chair right Setting up your office right Top 1/3 of screen level with eyes Elbows are close to the body • Feet rest firmly on the ground or are supported by a footrest Also drinking water (not just diuretics like tea and coffee) will ensure your muscles stay hydrated and minimise the chances of stiffness developing over time. Setting up your chair right The chair needs to be fitted to your unique body shape. DO NOT lend this chair to anyone else without showing them how to adjust it for their own body frame. The secret is in the correct positioning of the two supports hidden inside the chair’s back-support. Open up the backrest fully using the zip and simply put the pads in place inside. Use the velcro on the pads to adhere it to the firm surface of the chair back. If necessary also use one hand to keep the pad steady while you tighten the zip again. Position the pad horizontally, ensuring the upper-most edge is placed slightly below (2-6 cm) the upper edge of the pelvis. (See diagram) Ensure the pad lies perfectly horizontal by checking that the pad is flush with the sides of the chair before closing the zip. The higher of the two supports need to be placed in its entirety below the lowest part of the shoulder blades. The upper edge of the pad should be about (3-8 cm) below the lowest shoulder blade. (Note: some people may have one blade higher than the other in cases of bad posture). 3-8cm Take your time experimenting in order to find your ideal position for both pads, but do not allow the upper pad to rest between the shoulder blade and the chair. This will not work and will disrupt your posture! Use comfort as your guide, but remember this is not a lumbar support chair. The pads should be positioned above and below the lumbar area to avoid pushing your lower back into excessive extension. Sitting in the Posture Perfect Office Chair 1. Always sit well back in the chair so that your back is making solid contact with the back rest at all times. Do NOT sit forward on your chair, sit on the edge of your chair or lean forwards. The chair does not work properly unless it is taking the weight of your back and hips. If you find yourself leaning forward, it’s probably because you’re sitting too far away from your desk and/or you can’t read the text on your PC monitor properly. Ensure the text displayed is large enough and that the top of the monitor is at eye-level. 2. Do NOT cross your legs or rest your elbows on the desktop. 3. Adjust the seat height so that your thighs are horizontal to the ground and your feet rest flat on the floor. (This is preferable to tucking them underneath your chair or leaving them straight.) 4. Allow your elbows to hang next to your torso (arms at 90 degrees) so that your forearms are in line with your keyboard. You may need to sit closer to your desk than you are used to. 5. If you can’t simultaneously follow point 3 and point 4, it may be necessary to increase the seat height and use a foot-stall, change the height of the desk, or purchase a keyboard tray which will allow you to type with your lower arms parallel with the floor, below the level of the desk. Avoid the use of laptops without using a separate keyboard as ergonomics will otherwise be seriously compromised.
