GOPRO OMNI RELEASE NOTES Omni / HERO4 Black v04.02.26.02.01 | November 14, 2016 • Second release of array firmware for Omni Note: This firmware is intended for use only with Omni and is not intended for use on standalone HERO4 Black cameras. Improvements and Fixes • Simplified firmware update procedure. Now a single firmware version may be used for both primary and secondary cameras. • Added 960p120 video resolution (3758 x 1879 spherical resolution). • Added Multi-‐Shot mode, which contains Burst, Time Lapse, and Night Lapse. • Enabled HDMI preview output. Note: HDMI output is enabled only during preview, not recording. • Addressed an issue where the secondary camera status screens might have misreported the amount of time remaining on the microSD cards when Protune™ was enabled. Known Limitations • HERO4 Silver cameras are not supported in Omni. Only HERO4 Black cameras can be used with Omni. • Because the primary camera must send commands to the secondary cameras, settings changes are somewhat slower when compared to a standalone HERO4 Black camera. Wait 2 seconds between a settings change to ensure that the setting is properly received by all cameras in the array. • After inserting microSD cards into cameras, wait 3 seconds before powering on the array. Otherwise, some cameras might not power on. • After inserting the external power plug into the array, wait 3 seconds before powering on the array. Otherwise, only the primary camera might power on. • Do not switch from one power source to another (camera batteries to external power or external power to camera batteries) without first powering off the cameras. Failure to follow this guideline can lead to unexpected powering off, interrupted recordings, and erratic Omni behavior. • Pressing and holding the Power/Mode button on the primary camera during encoding may result in the secondary cameras continuing to encode. Always stop encoding by pressing the Shutter button before powering off the array. • Omni recordings are not designed to work with the Capture app or Quik™ for desktop/mobile. Using an array camera or an array camera recording with GoPro Studio can produce unexpected results. Files recorded with Omni are optimized for use with the GoPro Omni Importer, GoPro Autopano Video Pro, and GoPro Autopano Giga applications. • Do not use the Smart Remote to change the date/time on the primary camera in Omni. Change the date/time directly on the primary camera.

If in-‐camera batteries are very low power capacity and external power is connected, Omni may power up and then power off. Omni always looks at in-‐camera batteries as a power source first. If you connect external power with the in-‐camera batteries installed, be sure that the in-‐camera batteries have at least some initial charge capable of powering the array. HDMI output is enabled only during preview, not recording. Additionally, the HDMI output does not provide super-‐imposed status information or a complete output of menu parameters. If the microSD cards become full, the unit will power down since no additional encoding is possible.

Best Practices for Using Omni • Before using Omni, be sure all in-‐camera batteries or external batteries are charged, cameras are correctly connected to the HEROBus connectors, and the panels of the Omni Sync Rig are properly secured. • Insert microSD cards into all cameras before powering on Omni. • Use new or newly-‐formatted microSD cards. Note: You can format all microSD cards in Omni from the primary camera. • Wait for the Array Ready message to appear and then disappear from the camera status screen before operating the array. • If the primary camera in Omni displays Array Error and the red status light is flashing rapidly, review the cameras in the array for errors. See Unique Alerts below for details. Note: An Array Error must be cleared before you can record. • If you want to log your shots, always refer to the primary camera in the array. The numbers on the camera status screens of some cameras in the array might differ if the microSD cards were not formatted before use. The numbering of secondary camera files is based on metadata in the encoded file, not on the numbers displayed on the respective camera status screens. Unique Alerts • Camera Status Light ⁃ When there is an Array Error in the rig, the primary camera’s status light flashes (red) rapidly. • Inner Cube LEDs ⁃ No light on the inner cube:
⁃
!
The camera has no battery installed or the battery needs charging.
!
The camera is not running array camera firmware or is running a different firmware version than the other cameras in the array.
Red light on in the inner cube is blinking !
The camera contains no microSD card.
!
The camera’s microSD card has an error.

Known Issues If a full microSD card is inserted in Omni after the Array Ready prompt has appeared, you cannot format the microSD cards. To format the microSD cards, power cycle Omni. If a microSD card becomes full and produces the Array Error prompt and you select DELETE in the SETUP menu to reformat the microSD card, the Array Error prompt might not clear. If this occurs, simply power cycle the Omni. When stopping Multi-‐Shot>Time Lapse photo capture, the Array Error prompt might appear and Omni might shut down. In most cases, even if this prompt appears, the recording still works as expected in the Omni Importer application. However, the file structure might not be recognized as a spherical shot by the Omni Importer application because the file count is different on each camera. If this occurs, review the recordings from each camera and remove the extra frame so that the file count is the same for all cameras. (To remove a frame, remove it from the DCIM folder structure.) To avoid this issue, consider using the Time Lapse Video capture mode instead.
