Note: This Device is intended for use on Shabbat and Festivals and has been approved by The Tzomet Institute and is endorsed by the Beth Din of Johannesburg. Pressing the button on a Gramma Switch does not draw power from the battery. There is a computer (microprocessor) inside the Gramma Switch that is always on, unlike a normal remote. This microprocessor sends a pulse, approximately every 10 seconds, which checks to see if the button has been pressed. If the computer (microprocessor) detects that the button has been pressed, the microprocessor waits for the next pulse to confirm that the button was pressed. The microprocessor will then send a signal to change the state of the alarm.

Explanation: • • • • • • • • • •
The switch used on a Gramma Switch is a static switch not the usual switch found on a remote. Pressing the button on a Gramma Switch does not draw power from the battery. There is a computer (microprocessor) inside the Gramma Switch that is always on, unlike a normal remote. This computer (microprocessor) sends a pulse, approximately every 10 seconds, which checks to see if the button has been pressed. If the computer (microprocessor) detects that the button has been pressed, the computer (microprocessor) waits for the next pulse to confirm that the button was pressed. If the computer (microprocessor) confirms that the button was pressed, the microprocessor will then send a signal to change the state of the alarm. If the alarm is off, the alarm will go into stay mode. If the alarm is in stay mode, the alarm will be deactivated. The device has been approved for use on Shabbat and Festivals by the Tzomet Institute and is endorsed by the Beth Din of Johannesburg who supervised its manufacture. This device may only be used for security purposes. The expected battery life in the remote is estimated to last 12 months. This is based on the Gramma Switch only being used over Shabbat and Festivals. Should the Gramma Switch be used more frequently, battery life will last for a shorter period.
