A snapshot of the past season says a lot about where the sport of kitesurfing and Cabrinha are headed for 2007 - 2008. Bow and High Depower kites have taken over the industry and now make up more than 90% of the kites being sold today. Our decision to offer bridled non-bow designs such as the popular HD kites along with our industry leading Bow designs has allowed us to cover the full spectrum of performance and price with no compromise on safety. Override’s depower on demand still remains the best means of depowering your kite in an instant. The 07 -08 range of Cabrinha kites is more refined and targeted than ever. We have made a much clearer separation in the categories to provide specialized equipment for the most popular styles of riding. We have added a dedicated surf kite and surf boards which epitomize the very soul of the Cabrinha brand. With the increase in the wind range of our Bow and HD kites came an increase in the load stresses. In 2007 we have implemented strategic counter measures which focus on added durability in the high load areas. Through the use of various materials we now provide a balance of strength and weight to deliver our most durable kites yet. Higher denier materials along the strut and LE seams provide solid stitch holding characteristics and alleviate any possibility for stitch combing. The selective placement of higher weighted material along the trailing edge deters against tears created by “tomahawk” style kite crashes on water, snow, or land. Our completely new board range offers the highest performance, most advanced boards to date. Lighter weights are achieved through the reduction in our component accessory weights. New molded footpads cradle the sole of your foot like a shoe while dampening impact during those hard landings. Our new lighter foot strap is designed for comfort, easy attachment and adjustment. We’ve implemented new concave bottom shapes which create grip along the rails and a faster line through the center sections. Kitesurfing is experiencing growth in many ways throughout the world. SINgLE POINT RAPId INFLATION SYSTEM Ease of use has reached a whole new level with the addition of Sprint™ - our unique single point rapid inflation system. Just pull the kite out of the bag, hook the pump to a single valve and inflate the entire kite to the desired pressure. The supplied leash pump and threaded valve connection keeps your kite under control even when pumping up directly in the wind.

Once the kite is pumped you can choose to clip off, or isolate the air contained in the struts. At the end of the session you can choose to deflate your kite completely by disengaging the strut air clips. OVERRIdE 2: SECURITY SECONd TO NONE The Override method of depower has become the preferred choice from seasoned pros to 1st time riders. It doesn’t get any easier than this. Just place the control bar in the Override mode and the kite will immediately begin to depower and drop from the sky. With Override you can avoid many accidents before they happen by maintaining control of the power of your kite at all times.

To place the bar into Override mode you can simply push past the stopper unit and the kite will immediately begin to depower and drop from the sky. To depower the kite, push the control bar into the Override Mode, unseating the Override™ 2 Stopper Unit (fig. 2). The kite will immediately depower and begin to drop from the sky (fig. 3). The Override™ 2 Stopper Unit features a positive locking and unlocking action and is now much easier to activate and reset, giving the rider even more freedom to spin the bar or to depower the kite. The Override 2 stopper unit provides a place to rest your control bar if you’d like to unspin your lines. When the Override stopper unit is seated on its sleeve you can temporarily let go of the control bar and unspin your lines.

OVERRIdE 2 STOPPER UNIT dETAIL The Override™ 2Tension Ring allows the rider to choose the level of pressure it takes to unseat the stopper unit from its sleeve an enter Override™ mode. With each click of the tension ring, the release load increases and more force will be required to put the control bar into Override™ Mode. Override™ 2 can also be used when performing unhooked tricks. First, be sure to unseat the Override™ stopper unit from its sleeve. Then connect your leash to the ring on the harness loop. If you drop the bar during a missed trick the kite will immediately depower and begin to drop from the sky.

The kite’s bridle makes relaunching off the water or snow a snap. When the kite is leading edge down on the water or snow, just pull on either the left or right leader line. The wing tip will rise off of the surface and allow the rider to position the kite into the side launch position. This is all possible without the use of a 5th line or additional wind tip fittings.

This season we take durability head-on with the addition of transitional strut panel materials and reinforced LE closing seams. We have reinforced the high load areas of our kites with a transitionally weighted material. This well-placed material acts as a buffer zone between the rigid strut areas and the canopy. The entire canopy of all kites are flat seamed and taped prior to sewing. This is 20% stronger than the free hand sewn method of a top stitch. The leading edge closing seams now have additional layering to eliminate stitch combing. The entire trailing edge implements a two-ply of tough 70 gsm material for added durability and strength. Cabrinha implements many new construction techniques to improve the overall durability of the kite. We use flat seams exclusively in all of the leading edge panels. This results in stronger seaming especially in the closing seam. All of the body panels also feature taped flat seams for added strength. The full contact between the strut and the leading edge helps to ensure a rigid frame. The positive connection not only provides stability while the kite is in flight but delivers added durability and a rapid relaunch.
An extra layer of Mark Cloth on the LE closing seams adds strength.

DURABILITY The new Convert tackles durability with transitional strut panel materials and reinforced LE closing seams. We have reinforced the high load areas of the kite with a transitionally weighted material. This well placed material acts as a buffer zone between the rigid strut areas and the canopy. The closing seams now have an additional layer of material and a layer of Mark Cloth to handle the higher demand put on them by todays riders.

RELAUNCH ON COMMAND The Convert’s relaunch capability is so easy that your hands never have to leave the control system. By simply pointing the end of the control system towards the kite, the wing tip will rise off of the water and launch the kite into the sky. Unlike other relaunch methods, The Convert allows you to decide when to launch the kite and which direction it goes into the air. Its simple... and it keeps the control in your hands... where it should be. Two of the elements credited for the Convert’s amazing relaunch are: The curved shape of the leading edge and the swept wing tips. Together they allow the kite to “unstick” by reducing contact to the water or snow when the leading edge is face down. The constant curvature of the leading edge allows the kite to easily roll onto a wing tip and lift off the water. The Bow kite bridle is also responsible for allowing you to choose the direction you would like to launch the kite. This clearly puts the Convert in a class of its own amongst a sea of hybrid kites which don’t allow this function. This important function becomes an added safety feature when your kite is sitting next to an obstacle like rocks, a pier, other riders or swimmers. For example: if you want to lift the right facing wing tip just point the right side of the control system directly at the kite and hold until the wing tip rises off of the water. DURABILITY A new robust construction with transitional strut reinforcements and higher strength materials in the durability prone areas. The Convert SE tackles durability with a tough Dacron leading edge, struts, trailing edge and wing tip areas. These areas transition into the canopy with transitional strut reinforcement materials, creating a solid framework around the canopy. The canopy is made up of 92 gsm (standard canopy material is 53 gsm) to stand up to the abuse that a school kite is likely to receive.

D ESCRIPTION The Powerdrive 2N1 can be ridden in either the 2:1 pulley mode or the 1:1 non pulley mode depending on your riding preference. The 2:1 pulley mode increases the effects of your steering and depowering input. For the amount of distance you move the control system you effectively double the reaction on the kite. The 1:1 mode virtually eliminates the bar pressure and lends itself to a smooth power delivery.

The Powerdrive 2N1 control system comes standard with our Override 2 stopper unit. The stopper unit provides the rider with a place to rest the control bar when unspinning his or her lines. There is a user adjustable tension ring which lets you choose the amount of pressure it takes to unseat the stopper unit and enter the Override mode. The Override 2 stopper unit also integrates our bungeed power adjusters. The easy to use power adjusters put the trim of your kite easily within reach. This often imitated but never duplicated feature keeps your entire control system simple, clutte streamlined and free of clutter. The Powerdrive 2N1 control system implements our new forged alloy center section with an expanded entry and exit opening for the depower line. CORES PVC Super light, tough, low density foam core. The basic advantage of this material is its light-weight, and ease of milling a precise core shape; producing a consistent result every time. Average Density: 75kg/m³ WOOD Vertically laminated Paulownia stringers produce a high compression/ lightweight core. Paulownia has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of all wood species.The result is simple. Bullet proof, with a smooth, consistent flex pattern. Average Density: 310kg/ m³ X-48 The X stands for Extruded Poly Styrene (XPS). XPS offers a high impact resistances and a better strength to weight than regular EPS. It is completely water tight and provides an excellent bond to the laminate. Average Density 48kg/m³
FIBERgLASS LAMINATES QUADRAX A four axis weave of fiberglass that is extremely strong and light resulting in a very lively feel and response. BI-AXIAL A simplified weave ensuring durability with a loose feel. HARD GLASS A pre-laminated fiberglass that’s pre-tensioned and cured under pressure. We apply this to the board in strategic locations to increase strength with a minimal increase to the weight. It’s the strongest fiberglass available! Hands-down!
TOPANd BOTTOM SHEET A light-weight and tough material. Its’ UV and Scratch resistance properties’ makes it perfect for Kite Board production.
ABS RAILS The ABS sidewall is laminated to the core during the Lay-Up process. It’s designed to increase the strength while ensuring a smooth, durable and consistent ride.
CORE PROFILES All our cores are produced with CNC milling. This means that every core is true to our design. Flex, profile and manufacturing consistency are all exact, every time.
FLEX PATTERN TRUE TWIN FLEX A symmetric pattern provides an identical flex, forward or switch, ideal for all types of riding conditions. SURF Surfboards flex under load. This flex provides spring out of the turn and offers control. Our cores and layups are developed specifically for kitesurfing.
MOUNTINg SYSTEM STAINLESS STEEL INSERTS Based on the industry standard 6 inch (15.24cm) pattern. Our Stainless steel inserts are custom made to eliminate pull out and spinning. Our inserts are all ¼20 thread and sized to properly fit the core profiles. They are inserted from the bottom of the core, glued and are in for good.
ARRANgEMENT/ LAYUP LAMinAte Each board has its own unique layup. We have tested many different configurations of the laminate to produce the best combination of strength and weight. The Cores are profiled to dial in the specific flex for a design. Then the laminate is applied to support the flex and increase strength.
STANCE OPTIONS The Stance options provided are design specific based on the rider size and style. The Prodigy and the larger two sizes of the Imperial have a 14/17 inch option for all around freeride performance. The Smaller Imperial stance of 13/15 fits the smaller targer rider. The Custom features a 16/18 footstrap stance with a 20” binding stance for the wakestyle rider.

FLEX SUPPORT Kiteboards are subject to high shock loads. Wakestyle, flat landing, kite loops and sliders wear heavy on a board. By adding spot reinforcement, we have addressed these loads without adding thickness or weight.
ROCKER The rocker is a key element in the overall feel and performance of your board. We use three distinct rockers based on the performance targets of the boards.
BOTTOM SHAPE Design specific bottom contours are added based on the boards performance demands. Single concave with rail chines on the Imperial improve tracking and smooth out the ride in Chop. Custom quad concaves increase tracking and add performance for finless riding.
ABS SHAPED SIDEWALLS Shaped sidewalls allows precise edge control and provide smooth traansition on sliders.

Designed by Pete Cabrinha, the S-Quad blends his fast tow-surfing rockers with a wider curvier outline to deliver a board that powers off the bottom and snaps in the hook. The 4 fins allow the rail to hold when you need it and let it bust loose on demand. The S-Quad is constructed with an X-48 EPS core and a composite skin. The x-48 construction has been custom developed to the Cabrinha S-quad. The XPS core is machined to offer the optimal shape. A full wood laminate under the feet provides strength and impact resistance. We use a multi weight glass lay-up to provide the best combination of strength and weight. When ridden with the new Revolver HD surf kite, its as close as you’ll get to the real thing. If you want just one board to handle a wide range of surf conditions the S-Quad is your board.

3d FOOT PAdS The new generation foot pads have been redesigned with performance, light weight, and ease of use. The new molded EVA mid section reduces weight. As well the plate has been canted to give better ergonomics. A new outline provides a solid foot position and integrates the cut EVA grip area. The Internal plastic is pre-curved and has the weight greatly reduced.
WIdEBOdY AdJUSTABLE FOOT STRAP The strap has been totally redesigned for the new model. Fit, function, styling, and ease of mounting have all been addressed. Traditional footstraps lose their fit as the strap gets bigger or smaller. By adding two side adjustment the strap stay centered on your foot. The internally molded Side Curtain EVA eliminates any contact with the adjustment webbing no matter how large you make the strap. When the strap is in its smallest the there is no added bulk. The outboard tongue can be removed to allow easy mounting of the strap. This feature also allows the strap to be left on the board for traveling.
SURF STRAPS If you are looking for the most comfortable surfing footstrap on the planet look no further than the Cabrinha surfstrap (WBD). The Cabrinha surfstrap has mirrored the evolution of the surfing trend to meet the needs of the hard core surfer. The asymmetrical outline is perfect for riding goofyfooted or regular on the same board. Developed on the North Shore of Maui, this strap is also perferct for tow-surfing.
WAKE FINS Cabrinha wake fins are precision foiled for high speed and control. Our thin foils have been proven to give you the right amount of bite without excess drag. Fins are constructed of fiberglass plate for added durability and a solid grip on the mounting screw threads. Fits all Cabrinha boards. All sizes of fins come in a pack of 4 fins with 8 screws.
SURF FINS Cabrinha has developed a set of surf fins to harness the power of the S-quad surf board. The 4 fins allow the rail to hold when you need it and let it bust loose on demand. Two 4” inch lead fins and two 3.25” inch rear fins round out the back. Fins come in a pack of 4 with 8 screws.
