Gigabit Ethernet Technology Ethernet since introduction in ‘70s has consistently developed. Applications and services have expanded beyond all imagination because of protocol flexibility. IP is now expected to replace traditional telecom protocols. Speed improvement from 10M to 100M, and now 1000M. Bandwidth demand always exceeds supply. (Fibre glut has not addressed access bottleneck) Cheap technology supports popularity.
