HANDY HINTS FOR PROFESSIONAL COOKTOPS AND RANGES Cleaning: After washing burner cap, be sure to dry thoroughly. Hold cap firmly in one hand and shake sharply against other hand to dislodge water from all ports. Repeat if necessary. Clean igniters gently by removing any soil with a toothpick or damp (not wet) cotton swab. When reinstalling the burner caps, be sure that Locators (A) on the underside of burner cap fit into the Notches (B) on the burner base. Unless burner cap is seated correctly, the flame will burn unevenly, and/ or the igniters will continue sparking when trying to light. The two far left cooktop control knobs have graphics indicating the ExtraLow® feature, which allows you to select low heat settings needed to simmer or cook delicate foods. Between LO & XLO® on the knob, the flame will automatically cycle OFF. Based on a one minute cycle, at XLO® the flame will be ON about 8 seconds and OFF 52 seconds; at just below LO the flame will be ON about 52 seconds and OFF 8 seconds. When the automatic ignition turns the flame ON, all the igniters will click; this is a normal operational characteristic of the ExtraLow® feature. The indicator light located at the far left of the control panel will illuminate whenever any gas surface burner is on. For the electric oven press the appropriate button on the control panel. To select the proper oven temperature, turn the oven knob clockwise (to the right) to the exact temperature desired, such as 350°F. If you overshoot 350°F, turn knob around to OFF and try again. Moving the dial back and forth around 350° may not give you as accurate a temperature. To select the proper oven temperature for the gas oven (not shown}, push in and turn the oven knob counterclockwise (to the left) directly to the desired temperature; do not rotate knob back and forth around desired temperature as this may give an inaccurate temperature.
(Gas Oven Control Knob Not Shown)
When broiling in the gas oven, the control knob must be turned counterclockwise to Broil stop position for the broiler to ignite. This stop may be just beyond the Broil knob marking. The oven door must be closed when broiling in the gas oven, During high temperature cooking on the cooktop, areas of the backsplash near the range or cooktop may turn a yellowish or bluish color. This is due to the high heat. The color can be removed by following the directions on Revere Ware® Instant Stainless Steel Cleaner. Be sure to rub in the direction of the stainless grain, rinse and dry. If food soil on the backsplash becomes burnt on and looks like a brown “shellac,” this can be removed by following directions on a spray-on oven cleaner. Be sure to mask other surfaces to prevent overspray.
Grill Disassembled
Grill Grate
Cleaning: After using the grill for cooking, operate an extra 20 minutes to burn off the grease on the stainless steel radiant. When cold, remove the grate, stainless steel radiant, double U-shaped burner, heat shield and drip pan for cleaning. Be sure all gas ports on the burner and the venturi are open and free of debris that may prohibit gas flow.

Grill Box
Reassembly: The double U-shaped burner must be positioned correctly for safe operation. First slide the double U-shaped burner venturi over the gas orifice at the front center of the grill box, then insert the burner end holes into the support bracket studs at the rear of the grill box.
Burner Placement on Supports
The grill must be ignited by pushing in and turning the grill control knob counterclockwise (to the left) to the LITE/HI position. The spark igniter will immediately spark and the grill burner will ignite in 4 - 10 seconds. If the flame does not ignite within this time, turn the knob back to the OFF position, wait 5 minutes, then repeat the lighting procedure. After the grill flame becomes apparent, preheat for 10-15 minutes. The grill knob may then be set to the desired flame height by turning the knob to any position between LO and Hl. The griddle arrives with a protective grease coating that must be completely removed with a spatula, paper towels, (in crences use a table knife or toothpick) and cleaned with hot sudsy water. Rinse with vinegar/water and season now or it will rust. When seasoning, completely cover griddle surface with one teaspoon or less of oil {not corn oil) and set heat to 350°F. for 30 minutes or until it begins to smoke; cool and repeat. When cool, wipe off excess oil. With use, the surface will darken like a restaurant griddle. At the end of cooking, scrape off food residue with a spatula, and wipe clean with paper towels. If soap pads and water are used for cleaning, re-seasoning is necessary. Once cooking grease has solidified, remove griddle grease pan. Lift up front edge and slide out for cleaning. 5551 McFadden Avenue • Huntington Beach, CA 92649 • 800/735-4328 RO 5203-1 • 15-13-102A • BSH Home Appliances Corp. 2000 • Litho in U.S.A. 03/01
