Updated: April 13, 2017 Hardware and OS Requirements For Installed Runtime or Development Runtime Licenses The following is a guide. Actual requirements will depend upon your specific application architecture. Minimum Requirements Recommendations Servers or Workstation PCs                32 or 64-bit Windows Operating System  2GHz dual-core processor  20GB free hard drive space  8GB RAM Laptops, Tablet PCs, and Panel PCs     32 or 64-bit Windows Operating System 2GHz dual-core processor 20GB free hard drive space 4GB RAM 64-bit versions of Windows OS for all systems. 3GHz dual or quad core processors (higher clock speeds help, more cores don’t). 16GB or more of RAM for systems over 100,000 tags. 100MB/1GB Ethernet is required for networking. Fast Solid State Drives (SSD) when using RAID drives. Keep VTScada Historian on a separate hard drive from VTScada and the OS. Voice modem required for text-to-speech alarm notifications by phone. Connection to an email server required for email alarm notifications. Cell modem or email account required for text alarm notifications. Sound card and speakers required for local alarm annunciation. RS-232 port needed for communications with serial I/O devices. Avoid using more than one Virtual Server per computer. Do not clone a virtual server with VTScada installed. Windows-compatible printer to print VTScada pages or reports. Thin Client Only Thin Client Only Please Note  NetDDE is not available on Windows Vista and higher (it was removed in XP Service Pack II).  VTScada 10 uses IANA registered TCP/IP port 5780 (not 1160). Configure your firewall to route RPC traffic accordingly.  When reusing internal devices like modems or sound cards, make sure that the new computer has the correct motherboard slots.  Make sure the third-party software you use with VTScada (e.g., accounting or reporting) is compatible with the new OS.  There are no A-Open modem drivers for an OS newer than Vista. For Thin Clients on Smart Phones, Tablets, Desktops, and Laptops Windows Desktop/Laptop Systems Other Operating Systems The VTScada Internet Client VTScada Mobile Internet Client  Requires at least one installed VTScada license to act as the server.  Network connection to a VTScada server.  Requires one or more concurrent VTScada Thin Client licenses.  Designed for any HTML5-compliant web browser.  Launch clients from any networked computer running Windows Server  Safari® (OS X, iOS) - Recommended 2003 or newer (no VTScada installation required).  Chrome® (Windows®, iOS®, Android®) - Recommended  Opera® (Windows®, iOS®, Android®)  Firefox® (Windows®, iOS®, Android®)  BlackBerry Browser® (BlackBerry OS®)  Internet Explorer Mobile® (Windows Mobile®)   Launch using Internet Explorer (ensure ActiveX is enabled) using a web address. Launch from your desktop using a small program downloaded once from your VTScada server via any browser. Footnotes 1. 2.
