Hardware Product Specification System Overview The system utilises battery operated low power radio transmitters operating in the 434 MHz frequency band to collect and transmit data to on-site Data Loggers. Data Loggers collect the data from the transmitters and passes them to an off-site web based server to be processed. Multiple Data Loggers and radio relay units can be installed to extend radio coverage. Data Logger Hardware Dimensions: 120x80x60 mm Internal GPRS/GSM module 900/1800MHz SIM holder Operating temperature range: 0 – 40 °C Dual transceivers for improved signal reception reliability. The transceiver feature allows for hand-shaking with remote transceiver, or control (e.g. relay) via a remote transceiver. Frequency range 434.075 MHz (programmable range: 402 - 470 MHz), sensitivity –118dbm, dual BNC sockets. Non volatile storage for 4000 logged records Power input 5v DC +/- 10 % at 500mA Battery backup – Lithium battery, 3.7v at 1.2Ah – Note: removal of the 5v power plug from the power socket disconnects battery backup. Battery backup operation: 6 hour operation at 15 minute interval server contacts. Battery requires 12 hours to fully charge. RS232 debug port – RXD, TXD, Ground. Signals included in the 5v power socket Firmware Logs data from up to 128 remote transceivers Logs battery back-up voltage, GPRS signal strength, transmitter battery voltage, transmitter signal strength Logs transmitter payload depending on transmitter type: internal/external temperature sensors, 16 bit counter, state change, or combined temperature and counter functions. Programmable calling-in interval (via remote server) Debug: survey mode – lists transmitter ID and payload, APN, URL, meter readings Relay Mains powered Repeats every transmission it receives from transmitters Receive and transmission frequencies can be different. Transmitter – Transceiver 434.075 MHz licence free transceiver (programmable range: 402 - 470 MHz), +10dBm On board non-rechargeable lithium battery at 3.6v, 2.4Ah Operating temperature range: -25 – +40 °C Transmission interval: 15s, 60s, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour Battery life at 15-minute transmission intervals: 10 years at 25 °C ATEX/IP68 Variant ATEX Zone 2 (IP68) – for use on ATEX meters such as gas and IP68 approved for use outdoors or underground water chambers. Transmitter - Transceiver Options Counter 24 bit counter. 40ms pulse width, 25Hz pulse rate. State change Transmits at programmed intervals, or when the input pin state has changed. 250ms pulse width, 2Hz pulse rate 16 bit state change counter Internal temperature sensor Temperature measurement range: -25 - +40 °C Temperature resolution: 0.1 °C Temperature accuracy: +/- 0.5 °C Dual external temperature sensors (PT1000 sensors) High resolution range option: - 85 - 0 °C, resolution: 0.1 °C, accuracy: +/- 0.5 °C Wide temperature range option: - 60 - +150 °C, resolution: 0.3 °C, accuracy: +/- 0.8 °C Combined counter/internal temperature sensor Temperature measurement range: -25 - +40 °C Temperature resolution: 0.1 °C Temperature accuracy: +/- 0.5 °C 16 bit counter Remote I/O Unit can be used to control one or more relays in conjunction with the logger. Overview Transmitters are battery powered and can be configured as Pulse counter (from meter pulsed output), Temperature or simple On/Off status. The transmitters pass data at approximately 5 minute intervals to an onsite Data logger. Data Loggers are mains powered with battery back-up, it contains a SIM card. It collects data from all transmitters and contacts the web server at approximately 10 minute intervals. Radio Relay units are mains powered and used to extend the radio range for remote meters. Multiple Data loggers and relay units can be used to extend the radio range to cover wide areas such as University Campuses. Schematic Data packets arriving at the web server can be sent to multiple software packages where required.
