Impelair AS aims to offer energy-efficient, easy-to-operate and service-free HVAC equipment for the market while maintaining premium quality. Impelair AS is located in the Aegean Free Zone in Izmir, Turkey. The Free Zone has more than 240 global companies taking advantage of the simplified customs and logistics procedures. The manufacturing processes involve high-tech CNC machines to ensure precise manufacturing quality and production plant efficiency. The equipment is manufactured on assembly and sub-assembly lines where quality control is carried out in line with both national and international standards. Every single unit manufactured is checked with electrical control equipment before packing to prevent any problems in the field. The HVAC market has been growing as an industry for the last 15 years. With the enhancement in building material technology and the new regulations for energy efficiency imposed by the authorities, the equipment technology is also changing to meet demand. At Impelair AS, we not only focus on today’s technologies but also on communicating our vision of what tomorrow’s needs will be. We are working in cooperation with the major component manufacturers, meaning we all benefit from the mutual innovations and knowhow. By applying the results of this work to our product range at Impelair AS, we create energyefficient products for buildings with a low energy profile. 2 Notus Units NOTUS units are designed as compact heat recovery ventilators to meet the increasing demand for energy efficiency by means of heat recovery and energy consumption for residential and commercial HVAC applications. The units are equipped with the latest technology components and IQ control system. Applying the latest developments in components, NOTUS units ensure very low specific fan power (SFP) values and high heat exchange efficiencies. With the standard IQ control and LCD control panel the user can select between different operational modes, independent 3 speed fan speed control, unbalanced ventilation, weekly timer, filter monitoring, free cooling by means of “By-pass Ventilation” and automatic fan speed setting with “Ventilation on Demand”. Functions NOTUS units: • • • • • Supply fresh air for indoors. Extract stale indoor air. Transfer heat between supply and exhaust air streams. Filters supply air. Reheats fresh air with hot water coils. Energy Savings and Environmental Responsibility With their superior heat recovery potential, an average size NOTUS unit is capable of recovering approx. 15 kW of heat energy per hour in winter with nominal air flows. On an annual basis, it is possible to recover over 65000 kW of thermal energy in certain climatic conditions. To generate this thermal energy the atmosphere would be subject to 13000 kg of CO2 emissions with natural gas. At Impelair AS we encourage such benefits in order to preserve the natural heritage for future generations. Advantages • • • • • • • High thermal efficiency with Counterflow exchangers Low power consumption with RadiCal blade EC fans Compact design with max. 900 mm depth and 1900 mm height Low sound level with engineered unit design High flexibility with different heat exchanger types Standard LCD remote control with IQ control, optional Total Control available Easy service and maintenance with engineered unit design Models NOTUS units are available for nominal air flow between 500 m3/h to 5000 m3/h in 6 different models. NOTUS units are designed with separable sections for easy transport and access to the building. 9 Components Heat Exchanger Counterflow heat exchangers are used to increase the heat transfer in the heat recover exchanger. NOTUS units are available with both aluminum and polystyrene heat exchangers. With polystyrene heat exchangers it is possible to extend heat recovery efficiency to up to 96% because of the unique structure of the air ducts inside the heat exchanger. The triangular ducts in the polystyrene heat exchanger of NOTUS are arranged so that each one is surrounded by separate parallel ducts in which the air stream flow is in a "counterflow" flow pattern. This maximizes the heat transfer surface area and increases heat exchange efficiency. To decrease the pressure drop across the heat exchanger the dimensions are optimised in both aluminum and polystyrene heat exchangers. Control NOTUS units are equipped with IQ control. IQ control is capable of controlling EC fans, by-pass clamp, frost heater and operation timer. Fans can be controlled using three speed settings/unbalanced ventilation/ventilation on demand or constant flow. Two permanent temperature sensors measure return air/fresh air temperatures and control the by-pass. Filters are checked with a timer and the user is reminded when to carry out filter maintenance periodically. By-Pass By-pass ventilation is used during summer and allows return air to by-pass the heat exchanger, thereby introducing fresh air at outdoor air temperature and cooling down indoors. NOTUS units are equipped with by-pass ventilation as standard. With the pre-installed temperature sensors IQ control checks return air temperature, fresh air temperature and user set temperature. According to the evaluation in the PCB, the bypass clamp is opened automatically. The filtration class is G4 according to EN 779. G4 filters are medium efficiency disposable air filters suitable for ventilation applications with good dust-holding capacity. The filters consist of a dry non-woven extended surface fabric medium and create low initial pressure drop. For higher filtration demand NOTUS Units have extra filtration as an option. Extra filters are class F6 or F7 according to EN 779 and used to fine-filter fresh air. The filters consist of a non-flammable fabric medium which is pleated to extend the filtration surface and decrease the pressure drop. The pleated filter mediumis contained within the air filter by a rigid all cardboard casing. 11 Accessories Heating Despite the high thermal efficiency, to increase the supply air temperature in winter optional heating coils are available for NOTUS units. For heating fluid, steam or hot water is used. The coils are carefully engineered for an optimum balance between air side pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient. The coils are made of specially corrugated Aluminum fins and copper tubes. The fin spacing is limited to a minimum of 2,1 mm for easy cleaning and maintenance. Heating coil capacity is controlled by means of a modulating control valve and user set temperature. The modulating valve is integrated into NOTUS’s Total Control system. Cooling Cooling coils (water or direct expansion) are available as optional equipment for NOTUS units. With cooling coils it is possible to cool down the supply air by means of chilled water or refrigerant removing both sensible and latent heat from fresh air. The coils are carefully engineered for an optimum balance between air side pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient. The coils are made of specially corrugated Aluminum fins and copper tubes. The fin spacing is limited to a minimum of 2,5 mm for easy cleaning and maintenance. To help the flow of the condensed water drops on the coil surface, the fins are coated with a special phenolic material. Cooling coil capacity is controlled by means of a modulating control valve and user set temperature. The modulating valve is integrated into NOTUS Total Control system. Droplet eliminators are used as standard with cooling coils in NOTUS units. A double slopped condensation tray made of stainless steel are used to drain condensed water. A siphon system made of ABS is delivered along with the units. Fresh Air heater Electric or water driven coils are available for extreme climates for freeze protection. A freeze thermostat with a free contact is delivered with the coils to activate the circulation pump or start the electrical resistance elements. For water coils a glycol-water mix must be used. 12 Accessories Total Control NOTUS units are optionally available with the state of art “Total Control”.
