The HP 3324A Syntheslzed Function/Sweep Generator The HP 3324A complements HP's farnily of synthesizedfunction generators. It combines good synthesizerquality with extendedsweep capabilities, at a low price. Multl-ln'e".1 Sweeplng Tbe 3324A offers the capability to define up to SOdifferent sweep intervals, each containing its individual sweep parameters, such as start and stop frequency. sweeptime, linear or logarithrnic sweepand marker frequency. Up to 100 intervals can be sequenced.becauaethe repetition of intervals is possible. Tbe foUowing example shows4 different intervals of a sequenceof 5. Intervall is alinear up-sweepfoUowedby interval2 which has the samestart-frequency and stop-frequency. Interval3 representsa logarithrnic sweep;it is repeated at the end of the sequence.Interval 4 is linear down-sweep.Tbe complete sequenceis generatedoncein single mode or continuoualy in continuous mode. - ~~" ~f ~ j.' -, j, Tbe sweepis performed phase-continuous,evenif stop-frequencyand start-frequency of succeedingintervals are not equal. For those applications which require a bettet stability than 5 ppm/year. a high stability frequency referenceoven provides a stability of 0.05 ppm/week (optiona!). Good spectral purity With compliments.doc In addition to the highly stable frequency the HP 3324A provides good sinewavespectral purity with -50 dBc phasenoise and -55 dBc spurious signals. The clock generator (1 mHz to 80 MHz) Complextest set-upscanbebui!t only if a reliableclackgenerator minimizesjitter or timing uncertainties.Tbe HP 3324A provides clack frequencies from 1 mHz up to 60 MHz -synthesizedover the ful! frequencyrange. Automatic phase calibr8tion Two 3324A can be usedto generatephaserelatedsignals. After power-on,the phasebetweenthe two instrumentsis arbitrary. Time-consumingphaseadjustments canbe avoidedwitb the automatic phasecalibrationoptions.Justenterthe requiredphaseoffset, and tbey calibrate to tbis valueafter a simplekeystrokeor HP-IB command. High Output Voltage If more than 10 V (pop) amplitude is required then the Higb Voltage Option enhancesthe amplitude range up to 40 V (pop) (limited fot frequencies up to I MHz). Structured Front Panel The HP 3324A 's front panel is clearly structured and is supported by an alphanumeric ftuorescensedisplay. The status of tbe instrument can be seen immediately, as all of tbe selectedparameters and functions are displayed. The A.ference Soure. Waveforms Sine. Square, Triangle, negative and positive Ramps. DC, TrL clack Many applications, like PLL testing and calibration of measurement instruments, require a frequency reference which can bc accurately tuned and which is stahle over a lang period of time. Tbe accuracy and stability of tbe HP 3324A fulfills this requirement. Specificatlons For complctc specificationsrcfcr to tbc HP 3324A data sbeet(Pub. No. 5952-9678).
