High Speed Internet Meeting Room Information Packet

Overview_________________________________________________ The Hilton San Francisco has the most updated, state of the art network in our meeting space than any other hotel in the city. We rebuilt our network infrastructure from scratch in 2007 and completed the multi-million dollar project in mid-2008. All ballrooms and meeting rooms are connected through a fiber optic backbone, without CAT5 “daisy chaining” between closets. Each switch is connected to the core switch with a minimum of a 1GB fiber link. All of our data connections in the meeting rooms are fully certified CAT6 cabling and run at 10/100/1000 speeds. Wireless connectivity is also available in every meeting space with systems in place to dynamically handle interference and large density. At the Hilton San Francisco, you will not have to deal with a third party or an offsite company working on commission. We built, own, and manage our network infrastructure, which means that you will have the highest level of support, service, and flexibility.
Data Circuit__________________________________________ We are proud to offer a dedicated, full DS3 circuit to our meeting space customers. We do not “share” our circuit with the guest room internet so you can be assured that you are not competing with unknown guestrooms for bandwidth. We also have a redundant T1 line, just in case. Our Tier 1 internet provider is Level 3 Communications.
Core Switch_______________________________________________ Our Cisco Catalyst 4507 Core Switch has a 24 Gbps full duplex backplane delivering the highest level of performance and availability. In addition, we have redundant Supervisor Engine IV cards to provide dynamic failover and redundant power supplies.
Fiber Optic Network_______________________________________ Our fiber optic network backbone infrastructure is made up of fully certified multi-mode 62.5 micron fiber optic cabling connecting all of our meeting room closet switches to our Cisco 4507 Core Switch via a minimum of 1Gbps speeds.
Copper Wired Connections_________________________________ We use fully certified, CAT6 copper cabling capable of speeds in excess of 1 Gbps for all of our hard wired ports in all of our meeting space. The CommScope SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED XL ethernet cables are one of the highest rated in the industry, meeting and exceeding all CAT6 standards.
Closet Switches___________________________________________ Our closet switches have 10/100/1000 Cisco managed access switches that all have fiber uplink ports that connect to our Cisco 4507 Core. All of our copper ports are Power Over Ethernet (PoE) capable.
Wireless Connectivity______________________________________ We use a combination of Cisco Autonomous managed Access Points as well as the Cisco Wireless Controller in our larger rooms to handle dynamic channeling, interference and power management. Our wireless network is 802.11b/g capable.
VLAN Capability___________________________________________ We have multiple trunked VLAN’s that we can utilize to connect meeting rooms from any part of the hotel to another meeting room so you can have flexibility in the things that you need to achieve for your meeting.
Port ID’s__________________________________________________ All network ports in the meeting rooms are designated by a GREEN jack. The blueprints in this packet show the locations of all data ports, allowing you to plan for connectivity locations in the room. = represents data ports, while = represents ports already connected to a wireless access point.
Static IP Addresses_________________________________________ We will be happy to provide you with a public static address if you require one for a device that might require one. Please contact Steve Lui or Kathy Penick for assistance with a public address. Most VPN’s do not have a problem working with a private address on our network.
