HighPoint RocketRAID Series Chassis LED Configuration Guide January 25, 2006 RocketRAID Chassis LED Configuration Guide Introduction The HighPoint RocketRAID series host adapters offer support for activity and failed LED support for rack mount chassis. This guide will instruct you on setting up activity and failed LED for Ci Design rack mount chassis with their latest SATA backplane. Installation for Activity LED There are two options to configure the activity LED support: 1. Option One: Support from the HighPoint RocketRAID SATA Controller A. RocketRAID (2220,1820A and 2320) 2. Option Two: Support from the SATA II Hard Disk Drives A. Western Digital – All drive models B. Maxtor – DiamondMax 10 and MaXLine III C. Hitachi Deskstar – 7K500 (Kurofune-II), T7K250 (Vancouver-IV), 7K80(Pathfinder-I) Option One: HighPoint RocketRAID SATA Controller LED Cable Connector to RocketRAID 2220 or 1820A LED Cable Connector to RocketRAID 2320 Connecto to chassis backplane Connecto to chassis backplane Page 1 RocketRAID Chassis LED Configuration Guide Instructions: Turn pin 1 on SW2 to the “ON” position. SW2 is the blue switch. Install the activity LED cable onto J13 of the backplane. The cable on the connector corresponds to the port number on the controller card and backplane. Install the activity LED cable to the RocketRAID SATA Controller. The even-numbered pins located on the upper row are the 3.3V for the anode side of each LED to be connected. The odd numbered pins are the return or cathode. Connect Yellow/Orange/Red/Brown wired to cathode side of LED signal pair. Page 2 RocketRAID Chassis LED Configuration Guide HighPoint RocketRAID 2220 SATA Controller will have active LED headers to support the Ci Design rack mount chassis. The RocketRAID 2220 SATA controller will have the following header with the following pin definition. D1 through D8 represent SATA channels SATA1 through SATA8 respectively. The following diagrams describe the connector pin definitions for LED CON2 (disk activity), and CON3 (disk failure). HighPoint RocketRAID 1820A SATA Controller will have active LED headers to support the Ci Design rack mount chassis. The RocketRAID 1820A SATA controller will have the following header with the following pin definition. Page 3 RocketRAID Chassis LED Configuration Guide HighPoint RocketRAID 2320 SATA Controller will have active LED headers to support the Ci Design rack mount chassis. The ROCKETRAID 2320 has 4 LED jumpers – J2, J3, J4 and J5. The following diagrams describe the connector pin definitions for the Disk Activity jumpers (J2, J3). Option Two: SATA Hard Disk Instructions: Turn on all of the switches on SW2 to the “ON” position. Page 4 RocketRAID Chassis LED Configuration Guide Instructions for Failed LED HighPoint RocketRAID 2220 SATA Controller will have Failed LED headers to support the Ci Design rack mount chassis. The Failed LED cable is included with Ci Design rackmount chassis. Install jumper onto pin 9 and pin 10 of JP9 Install the Failed LED cable to the backplane.
