HiNation® HiLightTM Rugged products for portable energy HiNation® HiLightTM A rugged, portable solar cell solution providing: • bright and safe light, and • charger for mobile phones incl. Blackberry and iPhone, iPad, digital cameras, GPS, MP3, etc. OR 10 hrs sunlight 3-7 mobile phone charges Features Getting started NOTE: First time you use your HiLight, charge it from sun or via micro-USB until you reach a full battery. Flexible textile strap • To charge your product from HiLight - Connect your USB-cable to your product and HiLight, push button for 1 sec. - Disconnect when fully charged or HiLight battery is empty (green LEDs turned off). You can charge your product while HiLight charges from the sun. On/off button Charging indicator Battery level indicator • To use lamp, push on/off button: - 1 time: normal light, up to 20 hours - 2 times: stronger light, up to 10 hours - 3 times: turn off lamp Temperature indicator • To charge HiLight: - From sun: direct solar cells towards the sun. Note: Shadowing or clouds decrease charging efficiency. - Via Micro-USB: Connect a charger to grid/USB and HiLight Micro-USB. Charger not included. Effective LED diode for light • Charging indicator: Blinking green LEDs indicate HiLight is charging from sun or Micro-USB. - Steady green LEDs indicate HiLight battery level (1=low, 4=full). Push button 1 sec to see battery indicator. - When 0 green LEDs show when pushing the button for 1 sec, do not use the lamp or charge anymore devices, as this might drain the battery too low. You are able to charge devices such as mobile phones, iPad, GPS, MP3 players and digital cameras using a regular USB outlet (charging voltage of 5V DC). Please read this user guide and all other instructions pertaining to your HiLight carefully. Safety Instructions •The device you charge from HiLight should not have a power consumption exceeding 5V DC, 750 mA. • Red LED indicates the temperature being over or under the optimal charging temperature or too high USB load. To protect the HiLight battery, charging is shut-off. If this occurs, remove from heat/cold and disconnect any • If you charge HiLight from the main grid, ensure you are using a properly certified and CE-tested charger, else your HiLight could be damaged. • Keep inflammable and explosive objects away from HiLight. • Avoid placing heavy objects on HiLight. • Do not use HiLight if it has been subjected to damage. • Unplug HiLight from the mains adapter when the battery is full. • Do not dispose off by burning or with your household waste. • Do not immerse HiLight under water for a prolonged time. Performance (depends on cell phone type, location etc.) 10 hrs of sunlight gives a fully charged battery, providing… • 20 hrs of light, or • 3 mobile phone charges, i.e. 20-30 hrs of mobile phone talk time, 800-1200 hrs mobile phone standby, or 14 hrs of GPS usage Maintenance • Make sure you close the USB lid tightly at all times when you are not charging you electrical gadgets. • HiLight is not intended for use below water surface. If water has entered the product, let it dry completely with the lid open before using. Otherwise, the electronics could be damaged. • HiLight uses the cables you already have at home. Always make sure to use certified products suitable for your geographical location and electricity grid. • When charging the HiLight battery from the mains, disconnect the adapter when the battery is fully charged. • You may detach the lid cover from the HiLight and put it back easily through the opening at the back. HiLight Indicators 1 Red LED: battery is outside temperature range, or USB load is too high. Remove from heat/cold and disconnect any cables. Press on/off button >1sec to see HiLIght battery level, indicated by 1-4 green LEDs: Almost empty More than quarter full More than half full Almost full / Full On/off Flowing green LEDs: HiLight charges from sun or via micro-USB Steady green LEDs: HiLight charges your external product When you use the lamp, the light will blink (1-2-3 times) to indicate that the battery HiLight soon will require charging. Hibernate mode: Push button for 10 seconds to maintain battery levels during long-term storage. Push button to wake from hibernation.
