HiPath RG 2100 Practical Convergence. Today. Analog H.323 Gateway for VoIP Enterprise Applications HiPath™ RG 2100 is a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway that bridges analog circuit-switched (voice) and packet-switched (IP) networks. In conjunction with HiPath 5000 series IP communication systems, optiPoint™ IP phones and optiClient™ PC clients, the HiPath RG 2100 gateway is an integral part of Siemens’ complete IP communications solution for small enterprises and branch offices. By offering a cost-effective way to transmit voice across your existing IP networks, HiPath RG 2100 enhances investments in your enterprise infrastructure. At the same time, by interfacing to circuit-switched systems, HiPath RG 2100 allows you to migrate gracefully from circuit-switched to packet-switched voice networks. Using proven standards-based technologies, HiPath RG 2100 provides you with a risk-free method of converging voice, fax and data in your corporate network with optimal call quality. Benefits at a Glance • Works in conjunction with HiPath 5300/5500 Communication Servers • Enables voice communication on your existing enterprise IP infrastructure • Designed for small companies, as well as enterprise branch offices • Supports the ITU-T H.323 standard, ensuring maximum compatibility with other VoIP applications and equipment • Integrates with Siemens Hicom® communication servers, as well as third-party PBX systems • Provides short latency and high voice quality using sophisticated digital signal processing (DSP) technology • Allows for flexible configuration to meet specific needs • Offers four concurrent analog voice/fax channels • Supports the G.711 and G.723.1 vocoders Open Architecture Based on International Standards HiPath RG 2100 supports H.323, an ITU-T standard for packet-based multimedia communications. Voice compression and packetization is performed using standard G.711 and G.723.1 codecs. HiPath RG 2100 also supports the T.38 protocol for real-time fax communication over IP networks, including automatic bandwidth negotiation to optimize transmission quality. © Siemens Information and Communication Networks, Inc. 2002 Gateway Management HiPath RG 2100 provides an intuitive graphical web browser-based administrator interface. The web-based interface enables easy configuration, installation, and maintenance of all HiPath RG 2100 functions. In addition, software upgrades can be downloaded to the HiPath RG 2100 via remote connection. Advanced Features HiPath RG 2100 features integrated echo cancellation compliant with the ITU-G.168 standard and leverages packet redundancy in order to compensate for packet loss in your IP network. Furthermore, HiPath RG 2100 provides advanced audio control mechanisms to ensure voice clarity and consistent quality. Using adaptive silence suppression, HiPath RG 2100 minimizes bandwidth usage during pauses while maintaining natural-sounding speech. Exceptional Flexibility The HiPath RG 2100 gateway’s modular architecture allows for maximum flexibility in configuring IP voice trunks for each location’s requirements. In addition, multiple HiPath RG 2100s can be implemented in a single HiPath 5000 network, providing a highly scalable solution for small enterprises. Future-proof Your Communications IP is fast becoming the universal standard for voice, data and video communications. By leveraging the IP standard, HiPath 5000 solutions not only reduce your network operating costs, but also position your communication system for future applications. To learn more about how HiPath RG 2100 can take your IP network beyond data and enhance the way you do business, contact your local Siemens representative, or visit our website at www.siemensenterprise.com. High Performance with Low Latency The HiPath RG 2100 platform features a RISC processor with a fast memory subsystem designed for high performance with very low latency. The embedded software is based on a real-time operating system with an efficient classification and forwarding architecture that enables high-speed packet forwarding. Advanced voice encoding also cuts network bandwidth requirements while minimizing delay.
