QUICK START GUIDE Metrotech’s HL10 is a small, easy to operate water leak locator. Its outstanding acoustic properties enable it to find even tiny leaks. The filter settings allow the user to adapt perfectly to individual tasks and suppress interfering ambient sound. Turn the reciever On: Push the power button 1 for 2 seconds to turn on. Modes of operation: Press button 1 to switch between two important operation modes: 3 2 • Mute Mode – No signal is heard with the headphones. Mute is useful before you move the microphone. The last sound level is frozen and the LED filter display 2 blinks. • Normal Mode – The measurement begins with the amplified sound heard through the headphones. The measured sound level is also indicated by LED’s 3 . 5 4 1 Filter-settings: Press button 4 to change filter settings. Filter-LED 2 indicates actual setting: left LED 0… 540 Hz center LED 0… 4000 Hz right LED 540 ... 4000 Hz low frequencies low and high frequencies high frequencies Volume control: The volume and the sensitivity of the handheld amplifier is adjusted with buttons 5 . While listening to the ground, look for ambient noises. Readjust volume and sensitivity if needed during your leak survey. The adjusted resolution is indicated on the LED-display 1 . In addition, you can use the built in volume control in the headphone cord. 4 Recommended measuring-sequence: 1. Mount PAM B-2 or Ground Microphone (GM) 80 to the handheld device. 2. Put microphone onto the first measuring point. 3. Turn the device on. 4. Select filter setting sound (0 … 4000 Hz, center LED). 5. Measure the sound level by watching the LED’s and listen to the sound through the headset. 6. Select operation mode “mute” and the microphone will turn off. LED light: Press button 4 to turn light on. The light switches off as soon as you release it. Charge condition and battery replacement Low batteries are indicated by flashing filter-LEDs 2 . However, operation time of about 8 hours will continue after. To change batteries, open the cover of the device by using a cross tip screwdriver. Replace the batteries with a 2 AA, 1.5V. Please make sure the batteries are installed correctly into the device. Close the cover and tighten the screw appropriately. Warranty: One year. Specifications subject to change without notice.
