The second button from the left is the MODE button. Momentarily press the MODE button until the desired mode is displayed (Off, Heat, Cool, Auto). Note: Auto mode is used after you set your Heat setting (70°) in the Heat mode and your Cool setting (78°) in the Cool mode. The Auto mode will automatically change between the Heat mode and the Cool mode as needed. Set the Temperature Use the UP ( ) and DOWN ( ) buttons on the right side of the display window to raise or lower the the set temperature. This temperature setting is the room temperature you want to maintain. Standard suggested Heat mode setting is 70° Standard suggested Cool mode setting is 78° Hold Settings Momentarily press the HOLD, RUN button until Hold is displayed (4th from the left). By selecting Hold your system setting will maintain your temp. By selecting Run your system will follow the preset program. See your operating guide for more information on programs. Fan Button Set the FAN selection button (3rd from the left) to Auto Fan. Select User Settings with the DOWN button and by pushing SELECT. Select Set Clock by pressing SELECT button. Change the Time and Date using the + /- buttons and UP/DOWN buttons to change values. Select DONE when finished. Option Items TS40 can operate the SmartVent system or can function as an additional security alarm interface. SmartVent Operation Press the MENU button (1st button on the left). Press the DOWN button ( Security to SmartVent. ) on the right of the display screen – This will move down the menu items from Press the SELECT button (4th button from the left). Press the MODE button until Auto mode is selected (3rd button from the left). Press the UP/DOWN buttons on the right of the display screen to set the Set Point temperature. The Set Point temperature is generally set between 68° – 72°. The Set Point temperature is the room temp. that when reached will automatically turn off the SmartVent function. Press the DONE button twice (1st button on the left) to return to the front screen. General Information on How the SmartVent Feature Operates The SmartVent feature will automatically bring cool fresh filtered air into the home when the outdoor air temperature is approximately six degrees lower than the indoor temperature and the SmartVent mode is set to Auto. 3 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions 1 2 Outside 60 75 MENU 4 SECURITY 3 4 Normal Display Screen This is the normal display of the TS40B Thermostat. It is referred to as the minimized screen as all other information is suppressed to show only the temperature information. The thermostat will always return to this screen after a timeout when other screens have been selected. 1. Current Indoor Temperature display. 2. Outside Temperature display (if outside temperature sensor installed). *Optional item. 3. SECURITY button – Press to go directly to the Security Control screen. If system is disarmed, pressing this button will take you to the Security System Arming screen. If system is armed, pressing this button will take you to the Security System Disarming screen. 4. MENU button – Press to go to the Thermostat Control screen. From this screen you can control all the functions of the thermostat. You can also select menus to other control screens for setup of other functions. 1. Current Indoor Temperature display. 2. Outside Temperature display (if outside temperature sensor installed). *Optional item. 3. Heating Setpoint display. 4. Cooling Setpoint display. 5. SETPOINT CONTROL buttons – Press up arrow to raise setpoint, press down arrow to lower setpoint. The setpoint changed depends on the mode selected or if in Auto mode, the last call mode. 6. RUN/HOLD button – Set to Hold to keep the current temperature setting. Set to Run to run the schedule. 7. FAN button – Controls the manual fan. Set to Auto normally for automatic fan operation. Set to on for manual fan control. 8. MODE button – Sets the thermostat mode (Off, Heat, Cool, or Auto mode). 9. MENU button – Select menus for control of other functions of the thermostat. 10. System LED – On when the heating or cooling system is running. Also shows when Minimum Run Time (MRT) or Minimum Off Time (MOT) is active. 11. Economy LED – LED will be off and labeled Econ when stage one heating or cooling is on. LED will be on and labeled stage 2 or stage 3 when additional stages are on. 12. Run/Hold LED – LED will be off when Run mode is selected. LED will be on when Hold mode is selected. 13. Alert LED – LED will be off when no alert is active. LED will be on and labeled with the Alert message (Such as Security System Armed or Filter/Maintenance alerts). 14. Time display. 7 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Menu Selection Security System SmartVent Schedules User Settings 1 Done Select 3 2 8 Main Menu Screen The Main Menu screen shows a list of menu items that control other functions of the thermostat system. Included are set-up screens to allow you to enter schedule settings and other user optional settings. The SCROLL buttons on the right allows you to scroll up and down the menu settings. Note: there are more menu items than shown on the opening screen, scroll down to bottom to show additional items. A scroll bar indicator arrow to the left of the menu items show which one is selected. Press the SELECT button to go to that menu screen. When done, press EXIT button to return to the Thermostat Control screen. 1. UP/DOWN Scroll buttons – These buttons allow you to move through the menu items to select the one you want. 2. SELECT button – Press SELECT to go to the menu item selected by the scroll bar indicator. 3. DONE button – Press DONE to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. It also shows the status (Ready/Not Ready) of the security system zones. The TS40B thermostat is only compatible with select alarm systems available exclusively from Beutler. 1. ARM HOME button – Press this button for one-button instant arming of the security system. System will be armed in the Home mode and the thermostat will be setback to the Armed Home setback heating/cooling setpoints. 2. ARM AWAY button – Press this button for one-button instant arming of the security system. System will be armed in the Away mode and the thermostat will be setback to the Armed Away setback heating/cooling setpoints. 3. EXIT button – Press this button to leave the Security Control screen and return to the Thermostat Control screen. 11 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Security System Control 1 ARMED AWAY Next ENTER PASSCODE Exit 2 3 4 1 Enter your passcode using these buttons. Press NEXT to re-label these button 5-6-7-8 or 9-0. When done press EXIT. 2 3 12 Security System Control Screen – System Armed (Optional Feature) This screen is displayed when the security system is armed. It shows the system is armed and allows you to enter your security system passcode to disarm the system. The TS40B thermostat is only compatible with select alarm systems available exclusively from Beutler. 1. NUMBER buttons – Enter your passcode using the bottom buttons. For example: 1 2 3 4. Once you have entered four numbers, the system will automatically disarm. 2. NEXT button – To enter numbers other than 1 2 3 4, press the NEXT button to renumber the buttons, 5 6 7 8 or press again to renumber them to 9 0. Once four (correct) numbers are entered, the system disarms automatically. 3. EXIT button – Press EXIT to exit this screen and return to the Thermostat Control screen. If the alarm is triggered by fire or break in, it may be necessary to return to the security systemʼs main keypad to reset/clear the alarm. 13 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions 7 SmartVent 6 Vent 1:30 INSIDE 75 SETPOINT 70 OUTSIDE 66 1 DONE SETUP OFF MODE 4 3 5 TIMED VENT 2 14 SmartVent Control Screen The SmartVent Control screen is your control of the SmartVent operation. It shows the indoor and outdoor temperatures and the vent setpoint. The Vent LED will be on anytime a vent function is on. If the Timed Vent function is on, the time remaining will be displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. 1. UP/DOWN SETPOINT buttons – Sets the SmartVent setpoint. The SmartVent setpoint represents the desired room temperature at which the SmartVent will cycle off. (Usually set between 68° – 72° F). Example: If the SmartVent setpoint is set to 72° F, once the SmartVent turns on it will attempt to cool the room temperature down to 72° F before it turns off. 2. TIMED VENT button – This is a quick one-button venting function. One push turns the vent on for 30 minutes. Each addition push of this button adds 30 minutes to the vent time up to 2 hours. The next push will turn off the Quick Vent function. The remaining vent time is shown in the upper right corner of the screen. 3. MODE button – This button selects the SmartVent operating mode. Choices are OFF/AUTO/MANUAL. When in Auto mode, the SmartVent will come on any time the outside temperature is lower than the inside temp by a preset delta. In Manual mode, the vent system is on continuously until turned OFF. 4. SETUP button – Press this button to go to a Setup screen to allow you to change SmartVent settings. 5. DONE button – Press this button to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. 6. Vent LED – Indicates a vent function is on. 7. Remaining Time display – Indicates the time remaining on the current timed vent operation. 15 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Select Schedule Heat and Cool Security Setbacks Preset: Comfort Preset EnergyMiser 1 Done Select 3 2 16 Schedule Setting Screen This screen allows you to view the TS40B Setback Schedule screen to change setback temperatures or schedule times. You can also change the Home/Away mode Heating/Cooling Setback setpoints. Two preset schedules can be selected and loaded. Also you may edit and customize the schedule at any time. See preset schedule below. 1. UP/DOWN Scroll buttons – These buttons allow you to move up and down through the menu items to select the entry you want. 2. SELECT button – Press SELECT to go to the menu item selected by the scroll bar indicator. 3. DONE button – Press DONE to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. The Copy Schedule screen allows you to copy a dayʼs schedule to another day or group of days. First select the day to be copied in the Schedule screen. Scroll to the “C” at the bottom of the Schedule screen to highlight it. The NEXT button will change to the COPY button. Press the COPY button to open the Copy Schedule screen. Scroll through the days and select the days the schedule is to be copied to by setting the “N” under each day to “Y” by using the YES/NO buttons. After selecting all the days desired, press the COPY button. Exit the Copy Schedule screen with the BACK button. 1. YES button – Copy schedule to this day. 2. NO button – Do not copy schedule to this day. 3. BACK button – Return to Schedule screen. 4. COPY button – Copy the schedule to the selected days. 5. < button – Move selection bar backward. 6. > button – Move selection bar forward. 19 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions User Settings Set Clock Filter Service Maint Service Screen Timeout 1 60 Done Select 3 2 20 User Settings Screen This screen allows the user to set the clock, reset service alerts, set thermostat preferences, and set the temperature sensor calibration. 1. UP/DOWN Scroll buttons – These buttons allow you to move up and down through the menu items to select the entry you want. 2. SELECT button – Press SELECT to go to the menu item selected by the scroll bar indicator. 3. DONE button – Press DONE to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. Use the > and < arrows to move through the time and date fields. Use the + and – buttons to change the selected entry. Press SET when you are finished making changes to save and exit. BACK button – Press to return without making or saving changes to the time and date. 2. < button – Press to navigate backwards through the time and date fields. 3. > button – Press to navigate forward through the time and date fields. 4. SET button – Press to save changes and exit the screen. 5. + button – Press to increase the selected entry. 6. – button – Press to decrease the selected entry. 23 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Filter Service Filter Runtime 3 HRS Service Interval 300 HRS Done 3 – + 2 Reset 1 24 Filter Service When the Filter Service alert LED is on, it indicates that the system has logged enough hours to suggest filter replacement or cleaning. When this alert is on, pressing the MENU button will take you directly to this Filter Service screen. You can also access this screen from the User Settings menu. Resetting the Service LED: After the filter has been changed or cleaned, press the RESET button to clear the message and reset the counter. The default setting of the filter service interval alert is 300 hours of fan operation. The system counts fan runtime during heating, cooling, fan, or SmartVent operation. You can change the service interval alert to fit your custom needs by pressing the “+” or “–” buttons to increase or decrease the interval. 1. RESET button – Press this button to reset the Filter Service alert and the runtime counter. 2. + and – button – 3. DONE button – Press to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. Press to increase/decrease the service interval. 25 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Maintenance Service Heat Runtime Cool Runtime 0 HRS 0 HRS Service Interval Done 3 3000 HRS – + 2 Reset 1 26 Maintenance Service When the Maintenance Service alert LED is on, it indicates that the system has logged enough hours to recommend system maintenance. When this alert is on, pressing the MENU button will take you directly to this Maintenance Service screen. You can also access this screen from the User Settings menu. The Maintenance Service screen shows the accumulated heating and cooling runtimes since last reset. Resetting the Service LED: Press the RESET button to clear the message and reset the counters. The default setting of the maintenance service interval alert is 3000 hours of system operation. This is estimated to be one year of operation. The system counts system runtime during heating and cooling operation. You can change the service interval alert to fit your custom needs by pressing the “+” or “–” buttons to increase or decrease the interval. 1. RESET button – Press this button to reset the Filter Service alert and the runtime counter. 2. + and – button – 3. DONE button – Press to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. Press to increase/decrease the service interval. 27 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions User Settings Set Clock Filter Service Maint Service Screen Timeout 1 60 Done + – 2 3 4 28 Screen Timeout The Screen Timeout setting controls the time interval the Main Thermostat screen is displayed before it reverts back to the minimized screen. Normally the thermostat is set to display the minimized screen, when you press any button the Main Thermostat screen will be displayed. You can set the Main Thermostat screen to always be displayed or to automatically revert back to the minimized screen. Always display the Main Thermostat screen. Set the Screen Timeout value to “0”. Auto revert to minimized screen. Set the Screen Timeout value to the time desired. The range is 15 to 127 seconds (default set to 60 seconds). Once button presses stop, the screen will revert after this time. Note: Regardless of this setting, all other Menu screens timeout and return to the Main Thermostat screen after 90 seconds. 1. UP/DOWN button – Press these buttons to scroll to the Screen Timeout selection. 2. DONE button – Press this button to exit screen and return to Main Menu Screen. 3. + button – Press this button to increase the timeout time. 4. – button – Press this button to decrease the timeout time. 29 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions User Settings F/C Mode Sensor Calibration Backlite/Display F 1 Done + – 2 3 4 30 F/C Mode The F/C mode setting sets the Fahrenheit or Centigrade temperature display mode. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to scroll to the F/C mode selection in the User Settings menu. Use the + or – buttons to change to the F/C mode desired. Press the DONE button to exit this screen. 1. UP/DOWN button – Press these buttons to scroll to the F/C mode. 2. DONE button – Press this button to exit screen and return to Main Menu screen. 3. + button – Press this button to change from F to C mode. 4. – button – Press this button to change from C to F mode. 31 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Sensor Calibration Internal Remote 1 Remote 2 Remote 3 (75) (n/a) (n/a) (n/a) 0 0 0 0 Done + – 2 3 4 1 32 Sensor Calibration The Sensor Calibration screen allows you to adjust the temperatures displayed on the TS40B. Select Sensor Calibration from the Users Settings menu. You can calibrate the Internal sensor, up to 4 remote sensors and the outside temperature sensor (OS). Scroll down to desired sensor to be calibrated. Interval Sensor. This is the TS40B room temperature display. The number in parenthesis (75) after the sensor name is the displayed temperature. The following “0” is the current temperature offset. This can be adjusted +/– 7 degrees. If you wish to change the displayed temperature to 76 degrees, press the + button to change the temp to 76 and the offset will show 1. The screen will then show: Internal (76) 1. Remote Sensors. The TS40B is capable of supporting multiple remote sensors. These are shown as “Remote 1” to Remote 4”. If the remote sensors are followed by “n/a” that means they are not attached to the TS40B. Attached sensors will show a temperature like the Internal sensor. Set as above. OS Sensor (outside temp sensor). The last sensor in the list (on second screen) is the OS sensor. If it is attached, it can be calibrated here as well. Select and set as above. Press the DONE button to exit this screen. 1. UP/DOWN button – Press these buttons to scroll to the sensor desired. 2. DONE button – Press this button to exit screen and return to Main Menu screen. 3. + button – Press this button to increase the temperature offset. 4. – button – Press this button to decrease the temperature offset. 33 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Backlite/Display Backlite Timeout ON Level OFF Level Contrast 0 100% 0% 5 Done + – 2 3 4 1 34 Backlite/Display The screen lighting of the TS40B can be adjusted in a number of ways. The Backlite/Display screen allows you to set the Backlite ON and OFF, brightness levels, and contrast. Backlite Timeout. Sets the time from last button press that the backlite will timeout and turn off. Adjustable from 0 or 20 to 45 seconds. If set to “0”, the backlite will never timeout and will always be ON. If set in the range of 20 to 45 seconds, the backlite will turn OFF after the selected time expires. ON Level. Sets the brightness of the backlite when ON. Adjustable in 10% steps, 0 to 100%. If set to “0”, backlite will never be ON. Typically set to 100% for ON. OFF Level. Sets the brightness of the backlite when OFF. Adjustable in 10% steps, 0 to 100%. If you do not want the backlite to go completely dark when OFF, you can set an OFF brightness to something greater than 0%. NOTE: When you select an ON or OFF brightness, the display changes to that level for you to observe the brightness setting. Contrast. Sets the contrast level of the LCD display. Adjustable from 0 to 10. Use this control to adjust the darkness of the display. To light and the display looks faded, too dark and dark lines will appear in the display. Typically 5 is the correct setting. Adjust as needed. 1. UP/DOWN button – Press these buttons to scroll to the Backlite Timeout selection. 2. DONE button – Press this button to exit screen and return to Main Menu screen. 3. + button – Press this button to increase the timeout time. 4. – button – Press this button to decrease the timeout time. 35 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Thermostat Info TS40B ZCV2 System Type: Fan Type: Network Address: DONE 1 Ver: 03.06.1 Ver: 00.06.5 Standard No Fan w/HT 01 36 Thermostat Info Screen This screen displays the thermostatʼs programmed information for service personnel. It also shows the HVAC system setup information to verify that the control unit has been configured properly for the HVAC System Type (Standard or Heat Pump) and Fan Type (fan with or without heat). The network address is used for systems that communicate with home automation controllers. It may or may not be used in your installation. When done viewing this screen, press DONE to exit and return to Thermostat Control screen. 1. DONE button – Press this button to exit and return to the Thermostat Control screen. 37 TS40B Wall Display Operating Instructions Need Help?
