utilize laser imaging, unlike the Oki C5200 which uses LEDs (light--emitting diodes). LED output can suffer over time from increasingly noticeable streaking and banding. And you can clearly see in the PQ blow-ups of the color text, HP’s innovative ImageREt 2400 technology ensures print quality noticeably superior to Oki’s.

time to first page out from powersave in seconds
HP’s superior print quality is easy to see.
Less wait time - Color LaserJet 3500 and Color LaserJet 3550 boast a significantly faster first-page-out time from powersave mode – only 22 seconds vs. 74 seconds for the Oki C5200. In fact, the HP Color LaserJet 3500 can warm up and print 11 pages and the Color LaserJet 3550 can warm up and print 14 pages before the Oki unit warms up and outputs a single page.¹ Easy access to paper path – When clearing paper jams in the Oki C5200,

you may have to remove several consumables, including the light sensitive imaging units. With HP, you don’t.
total cost of ownership: More toner in the box – The HP Color LaserJet 3500 and Color LaserJet 3550
ships with 4,500 more pages of black (K) toner and 2500 more pages of color (CYM) toner and than the Oki C5200 – a value worth $318 based on the cost of Oki standard toner.2
Oki C5200 (best-PQ mode) These enlargements of 6-point text clearly demonstrate HP delivers superior color text output quality. 1
Based on HP testing, the Oki C5200 can warm up from powersave mode and print a single page in 74 seconds , respectively, compared to 22 seconds for the HP Color LaserJet 3500 and 3550. All three devices were tested after being in powersave mode for 3 hours. Based upon manufacturer-rated engine speeds, it would take the Color LaserJet 3700 would take 68.75 seconds to print a 14-page color job from powersave mode

The HP Color LaserJet 3500 and 3550 ships with enough toner to print 4,000 color (CMY) and 6,000 black (K) pages. However, the Oki C5200 only ships with enough toner for 1,500 color and black (CMYK) pages. Based upon pricing for Oki supplies from Oki web page, the toner for 2,500 (CYM) pages cost ($250) and the toner for 4,500 black (K) pages costs ($68) based on standard cartridge pricing.

Oki C5200 replacement parts include color drum sets (15K pages, $99), black drums (15K pages, $80), transfer belts (50K pages, $199), and fusers (45K pages, $140). HP Color LaserJet 3500 and 3550 replacement parts include the transfer kit (60K pages, $278) and fuser kit (60K pages, $410). Prices are based on specifications and pricing from Oki and HP web pages
Fewer interventions - Not only does the Oki C5200 have more consumables to manage than the Color LaserJet 3500 and 3550 ( 10 vs. 6, respectively), interventions to replace parts other than toner cartridges occur more frequently. In fact, with in the first 100,000 pages, Oki users will have intervene 27 times to replace parts beyond toner cartridges that total $2741 dollars, whereas HP users have intervene only 2 times for parts that total $688 dollars³ Less Maintenance – The Oki C5200 has a 2 part toner system which can be messy when changing toner. Also, the LED lenses in the Oki C5200 must be cleaned periodically to prevent print quality degradation – a task that’s unnecessary with the HP Color LaserJet 3500 or the Color LaserJet 3550, which employs laser imaging technology.
