Introduction This document provides examples for backing up databases for IMC that runs on Windows in centralized deployment and uses a remote database server.
Prerequisites The IMC system is deployed in centralized mode and uses a remote database server.
Example: Backing up IMC databases to a remote database server Network requirements IMC uses a Windows SQL database server. Perform the following tasks to back up the IMC databases on the remote database server:
Install the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent on the database server.
Configure automatic or manual database backup in IMC.
Installing the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent on the database server 1.
On the database server, access the install directory of the IMC installation package.

Right-click the installslave.bat file, and then select Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu. The Address of Master page appears, as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 Configuring the IP address of the master server

Enter the IP address of the IMC server, and then click OK. The Checking Database Connectivity page appears, as shown in Figure 2.

Configure the parameters as needed, and then click OK. The system checks the installation environment and database connectivity. After the checks are passed, the system displays the remote IMC installation wizard, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 3 Remote IMC installation wizard

Specify the deployment location, and then click Install. After the installation is complete, the Installation Completed page appears, as shown in Figure 4. 2

Click Finish.
Configuring automatic database backup in IMC 1.
Start the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent on the IMC server.

Click the Environment tab. The database backup and restoration functional panel is located in the Database Backup and Restore area at the bottom of the tab, as shown in Figure 5.

Click Configure. The Auto Backup and Recovery Settings page appears.

Do the following, as shown in Figure 6: a. Select Auto Backup Mode. b. Set the time at which the automatic backup operation starts every day in the Daily Backup Time (HH:mm) field. This example uses the default setting of 04:00. c. Set the lifetime for the backup file in the Backup file lifetime (days) field. Expired files are automatically removed. This example uses the default setting of 7. d. Specify the path where the IMC backup files are to be stored in the IMC Backup Path field. e. Specify the path where the database backup files are to be stored in the Database Backup Path field. This example uses C:\dbmanbak. f. Select components to be automatically backed up. By default, no components are selected. Select or clear Local Backup to configure all components.

Click OK.

On the Environment tab, click View Log to verify that automatic backup is correctly configured.

On the Environment tab, click Backup. A confirmation dialog box appears.

A page for selecting the database backup path appears. 3.
Specify a local path to save the backup files.

Click OK.

Check the specified database backup path for the backup files, as shown in Figure 7.
