The installation and upgrade prerequisites are documented in the HPE Systems Insight Manager Installation and Configuration Guides located at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Information Library. Prerequisites 7 2 Important notes The following sections describe the list of known issues, and limitations. Central Management Server Do careful planning to deploy new drivers, firmware agents, or other software to the local CMS to avoid unexpected results, such as a mandatory restart of the CMS. SNMPv3 The SNMPv3 supports and limitations are as follows: SNMPv3 INFORM support Use HPE SIM Engine ID - 0x8000000b0448502d53494d to send SNMPv3 INFORMs to HPE SIM. NOTE: It is mandatory to specify the Engine ID to discover HPE P6000 Command View and HPE P6000 Performance Advisor devices through SNMPv3. Also, you must enter the security name, security level, authorization, or privilege fields to receive the SNMPv3 traps from these devices. Engine ID of HPE P6000 Command View is constant and is set to 0x800000e80450363030304356. Engine ID of HPE P6000 Performance Advisor is constant and is set to 0x800000e80450363030305041. SNMP traps HPE SIM introduces a custom defined community string, which applies to all the SNMPv3 traps. These community strings are forwarded as traps in v1 format using AEH (Automatic Event Handling). Under globalsettingsupd.tpl(/config) file, snmpv3_trap_forward_community defines a custom community for all SNMPv3 trap forwards instead of the default public community string. Community string is retained for SNMPv1 and forwarded for SNMPv2 traps. Set this field through the Global Settings user interface on the debug page. SNMP pass-thru SNMP discovery of a ProLiant Gen8/Gen9 server through HPE iLO 4 is done in two ways: • By enabling SNMP pass-thru option in iLO 4, the information of OS is collected using the Management protocols (SNMP) installed at the OS level, if the community string matches. • By installing HPE ProLiant Agentless Management Service on the server and then selecting Agentless Management in HPE iLO 4 Management page, the Agentless Management discovers and associates the complete server details with the server node. Configure or Repair Agents CRA (Configure or Repair Agents) fails on Linux systems if the HPE Insight Management WBEM providers are already installed on the system. HPE does not support both WBEM and SNMP (contained in the Linux support pack deployed by CRA) on the same system. If the CRA operation fails, the Σ log into the target system is displayed, which is located in the /var/hp/log/ hpsum_execution_log* file and /var/hp/log/localhost/*.txt files. If the WBEM providers are already installed, then the localhost\hpsum_detail_log.txt file shows a dependency conflict hp-health conflicts with hp-smx. 8 Important notes Software/Firmware The HP-UX CMS does not support the following features: • Offline firmware upgrade • Installation on OA , iLO, or Virtual Connect • Installation on servers that are not running the HPE Version Control Agent Set up HPE SIM on a Linux or (yet better) Windows system to gain the software and firmware functionality. NOTE: Installing Software and Firmware deployment to an iLO does not work if Trust Platform Mode is enabled on the server. If you select Deploy ⇒ Software/Firmware Baselines ⇒ Track Software and Firmware Versions to install a SPP using the offline mode, and if an identification task runs while the iLO is running in embedded SmartStart mode, then an extra iLO might be incorrectly and partially discovered. The deployment task results might show success to the real iLO and failure to the incorrect iLO. Here, the deployment shows successful. Running identification again when the iLO is not in embedded SmartStart mode removes the incorrect iLO. The Software or Firmware upgrades through HP-UX and HPE SIM require the HP VCA to be present on the target. The Software or Firmware upgrades from a Linux or Windows CMS is performed on target-based Firmware to upgrade to OA and Virtual Connect. These upgrades are not possible through an HP-UX CMS. If Software or Firmware upgrades are failing immediately with no error code, ensure there are no instances of the HP SUM process already running on the CMS. Only one instance at a time must be running. Close the HP SUM process and retry the operation by doing the following tasks: • Install Software/Firmware • Configure or Repair Agents • Manage System Software Wizard • Manage Software/Firmware Baselines • Track Software/Firmware Versions ------------------------------------------------------------When you deploy software or firmware on the target in online or offline mode and if the target has no software/firmware (or older versions), then the task gets completed successfully, installing latest software/firmware on the target. If the targets already has software or firmware components installed, then the task installs latest software/firmware on the target with force. Update servers running VMware ESXi operating systems remotely, while running HPE SIM on Windows system. For information about the recommended driver and firmware versions for HPE ProLiant servers running VMware ESXi, see the VMware firmware and software recipe available at HPE Online Depot Web site. For more information about the firmware updates, see the HPE Service Pack for ProLiant Release Notes. ------------------------------------------------------------The pre-requisites for Virtual Connect firmware upgrade through HPE SIM are as follows: 1. Log in to Virtual Connect firmware with username and factory password (printed on the hardware) through PuTTy. 2. Run the command import enclosure Username=Password= to import enclosure username and password. 3. Run the command show enclosure to ensure enclosure details are imported. Software/Firmware 9 NOTE: HPE SIM does not support for installing and configuring HPE VCA through Configure or Repair Agents (CRA). HPE Insight Remote Support For information about using HPE Insight Remote Support with HPE SIM, system requirements and product support, see the HPE Insight Remote Support documentation at: http:// www.hpe.com/info/insightremotesupport/docs. For marketing information about HPE Insight Remote Support, see HPE Get Connected. HP-UX support HP-UX does not support IPV6 address. Version Control Repository Manager HPE SIM 7.3 users cannot do online deployment of agents using custom baseline with HPE VCRM 7.2.2 and its prior versions. Users must upgrade to HPE VCRM 7.3.0 for online deployment. The compatibility matrix for online deployment of agents using custom baseline is as follows: Table 1 Compatibility matrix HPE SIM version HP SUM version (bundled within HPE SIM) HPE VCRM version 7.6 7.6 7.6 7.5.1 7.5.2 7.5.3 7.5 7.3.0 7.5.0 7.4.1 7.2.1 7.4.2 7.4 7.1 7.4 7.3.2 6.4.1 7.3.4 7.3.1 6.3.1 7.3.2 7.3 6.0.1 7.3 Prior to 7.3 5.3.6 and prior 7.3.4 and prior XL server chassis association on Linux and HP-UX CMS For XL Servers on Linux and HP-UX CMS, chassis will not be discovered in HPE SIM and the chassis association does not happen. Help In Simplified Chinese, the help for the SNMPv3 credentials page will not display. Please refer to the HPE Systems Insight Manager User Guide at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Information Library for information on SNMPv3. The First Time Wizard — Discovery help may not display. For information on Discovery, refer to the HPE Systems Insight Manager Online Help. 10 Important notes Help on search • Search is not case sensitive. Example: Searching for cat finds topics containing both cat and Cat. • Full and partial matches. Unrelated partial terms are not found. Example: Searching for cat finds cat and cats, but does not find category because it is an unrelated term with a partial matching string. • No support for wildcard characters. Example: Searching for cat* finds topics containing cats but does not find topics containing category. • Keyword paste. To enter a complex keyword, copy it from another window, right-click the text box and select Paste. • Some matches are to the topic’s metadata, rather than the visible content. • When a search results in no hits, the system returns the stemmer rather than the search term in the Your search returned no results for panel. For example, the term Orchestration stems to orchestr and the results show as Your search returned no results for orchestr. This is expected behavior. Table 2 Supported search options Option Result Quoted phrases Not supported. AND If you enter two terms, the search engine locates topics that contain both terms and topics that contain each term. OR Search locates topics that contain the individual terms without the other term. It is possible to enter more than two terms. Separate lists are generated for each search. NOT Not supported. Wildcards Not supported. Metadata Supported. Ranking Not supported. Help on search 11 3 Issues and suggested actions The HPE SIM undergoes rigorous testing before any given version of the product is released. From HPE test activities to date, the following items are uncovered that you must keep in mind. HPE SIM • Issue: HPE Synergy 3530C 16 Gb Fiber Channel Host Bus Adapter and HPE STOREFABRIC SN1600E 32 Gb 1P/2P Fiber Channel Host Bus Adapter display name is different in HPE SIM and iLO. HPE SIM receives the card name as Emulex LightPulse HBA - Storport miniport and displays the same in Data Collection report under installed controller. Whereas, iLO receives the data from boot OS and it displays the same card as HPE Synergy 3530C 16G HBA and HPE STOREFABRIC SN1600E 32Gb FC 1P/2P HBA respectively. So, both the cards are same with different naming conventions. • Issue: While running data collection in HPE SIM, the servers having HPE StoreFabric SN1100Q 16 GB 2P FC HBA and HPE StoreFabric 84Q 4P 8 GB Fibre Channel HBA adapters are not listed in Network Interface table. But the driver and firmware version information of the adapter display in Software Firmware Baseline information table of the DC report. The issue will be fixed in the next release. • Issue: In SLES11 SP 4/RHEL 7.2 operating system, the SNMP cannot discover the server and iLO association. Suggested action: In SLES11 SP 4/RHEL 7.2 operating system, the horizontal discovery of iLO through SNMP, displays the server with serial number. During rediscovery of the server using IP address, there is a failure in merging the nodes. So, a new node is discovered with a different UUID. NOTE: • However, the server and iLO association work through iLO AMS discovery. Issue: Onboard Administrator (OA) enclosure association losts, when User Defined Rack name is changed in HPE SIM. After Onboard Administrator is discovered with its association, if User Defined Rack name is edited in HPE SIM only, during identification process HPE SIM will pick the rack name from Onboard Administrator xml which will not match with the edited rack name in HPE SIM. Hence resulting in association removal of OA, enclosure. Suggested action: If User Defined Rack name is edited in HPE SIM after OA discovery, then the same should be updated in OA as well before the identification is triggered to keep the associations intact. • Issue: MSA 2040/1040 Storage array running GL200 or greater firmware is incorrectly reporting pool capacity. Suggested action: To resolve this issue, use the MSA Storage Management Utility to retrieve the pool capacity information. • Issue: Mismatch in the version format of baseline version and installed version for Online ROM Flash Component for Windows — HPE Smart Array B320i RAID controller. For B320i firmware, the installed version is shown as 4.50 but the baseline version (from SPP) and the latest version (from SPP) shows it as 15.10.07.00 with the 2014.09 SPP or 2015.03 SPP. 12 Issues and suggested actions Cause: The 15.x.x.x refers to the firmware from LSI that is loaded directly onto the controller. The 3.X and 4.X firmware is the HPE software side of the controller when in RAID mode. Hence, there is difference in formats. • Issue: When establishing the trust between the HPE SIM (CMS) and iLO 2 (Management Processor) using the CRA (Configure and Repair Agents), the https communication is failing due to Bad Record Mac error. This is due to the issue in the TLS implementation of JDK. Suggested action: Set the property USE_TLSV1 to true in the globalsettings.props file located in /config/globalsettings.props. Restart the HPE SIM service. NOTE: • The suggested action works with iLO 2 2.29 firmware. Issue: HPE SIM launch of NonStop OSM Event Viewer in Tools and Link tab of system page must use https instead of "http". Suggested action: To resolve this issue, manually restart the HPE SIM service and rediscover the NonStop cluster after installing patch. • Issue: WBEM subscription fails for storage XP7 array because of which WBEM events are not received. This issue will be fixed in the next release. • Issue: HPE SIM install failed on Windows system on which Service ProLiant Pack is installed. On systems where Service Pack for ProLiant (Service Pack for ProLiant Version 2014.02.0(B) onwards) is installed, it is found that HP SUM creates the Cygwin registry entry. If you try to install HPE SIM on such system, the HPE SIM installation fails. Suggested action: Before installing HPE SIM, you must check if there is any existing registry entry for the following path: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cygwin. If an entry is found, delete the existing entry and then proceed with the HPE SIM installation. NOTE: • This issue is not shown while using Service Pack for ProLiant 2015.03.0 version. Issue: The Enclosure Manager Firmware version 1.20 and version 1.30 have issues in returning Serial Number and Unique Identifier of IO Module in XML Response. Description: IO Module nodes are discovered automatically when Enclosure Manager is discovered. Because of Enclosure Manager Firmware issue, IO Module nodes are not discovered automatically in HPE SIM when Enclosure Manager is discovered. • Issue: Discovery issue with Debian OS. Description: When a system with Debian OS is discovered, HPE SIM does not set OS name and OS version on the node. This is verified from system page of the node. Suggested action: The Debian OS version is set manually from Edit System Properties. The OS name is found from Hardware Description displayed in system page of the node. Follow the below steps to set the OS version: 1. Click the node. The system page of the node is displayed. 2. Click on Tools & Links ⇒ Edit System Properties HPE SIM 13 3. 4. • Supply value for OS version in Operating System Version field. Click OK. Issue: Discovery of Windows Server 2016 Essentials and Windows Server 2016 Storage standard editions shows as Windows Server 2016 x64 Enterprise edition and Windows Storage server 2016 x64 Enterprise editions respectively in system page. When an Integrated lights out 4 of Windows server 2016 Essentials and Windows server 2016 Storage standard editions is discovered through Agentless Management Service mode (AMS), OS name in the system page of servers is set as Windows Server 2016 x64 Enterprise edition and Windows Storage server 2016 x64 Enterprise editions respectively. Suggested action: Manually set OS name by updating the Edit System Properties ⇒ Operating system description field from in the Tools & Links tab of the system page. • Issue: Deployments failing from Windows 2012 R2 CMS Suggested action: Perform Windows Update on CMS and rerun the deployment task to deploy the components. • 14 Issue: When HPE SIM 7.6 is installed on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard system, the About page in HPE SIM shows incorrect operating system version as “Windows Server 2012”. This is an issue with the JRE currently integrated with HPE SIM, where Java is unable to get the correct Windows 2012 operating system name.
