HTC M9 Hotspot / USB Tethering Instructions Wi-Fi Hotspot: 1. A) Go to Settings > More (Just above PERSONAL) Mobile network sharing > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot and tap the On/Off switch. B) Swipe down from the top of the home screen. Tap Settings Cube > Tap and hold HOT SPOT. This will bring you to the configuration page 2. Here you can configure the HOTSPOT NAME, PASSWORD and configure users. 3. On the client device, use the Wi-Fi network and password that was associated with the hotspot to connect. USB Tethering: Generally the best strategy is to use the device as an RNDIS network interface, rather than dialing out directly as a modem: 1. Prepare the client computer with the proper driver a. Windows Vista or later should work without additional software b. Windows XP users may need to install ActiveSync 4.5 or later. They may need an Internet connection to do this. c. OS X users will need to download the HoRNDIS driver from http://joshuawise.com/horndis (3rd-party website) d. Most Linux distributions will work without additional software 2. Connect the device to a computer via a USB cable 3. Wait for the client computer to recognize the device 4. A) On the device, go to Menu > Settings > More (Just above PERSONAL)> Mobile network sharing > USB network sharing > Tap USB tethering. B) Swipe down from the top of the home screen > Tap USB connected > Tap USB tethering 5. Wait for the client computer to recognize the device as a new network connection a. Depending on your operating system, you may or may not see anything happen. b. OS X users may see a message on the phone about Android File Transfer, which they can ignore The Internet should now be available on the client computer; turn Wi-Fi off, open a web browser, and verify that you can view web pages
