Easy to set up, the QE 16/0 has 16 RJ-45 ports, allowing you to create versatile 10BASE-T Ethernet-based QSControl networks in star and distributed star topologies. One port may be switched between standard and uplink configuration. Rear-panel AUI and BNC auxiliary ports permit conversion to other media such as fiber optic and RG-58 coaxial cable (10BASE-2 Thin Ethernet). Each of the 16 main and two auxiliary ports has a green LED displaying its status: steady for Active, meaning the port is connected to an operational Ethernet; and flashing, AUI rear meaning there is data activity on the port. If a network device connected to a port malfunctions and starts transmitting invalid data signals, the hub will automatically detect this and shut off (partition) that port from the rest of the network until the malfunction disappears. Convection cooling helps keep the apparatus within its safe operating temperature even in heavy-duty industrial environments. An overtemperature sensor provides an audible buzzer warning if the operating environment becomes too hot. A standard IEC connector accommodates virtually any type of AC power cord, and the auto-sensing power supply runs on any 50 or 60 Hz AC voltage from 90 through 250 volts—ideal for use anywhere in the world, from installations to international concert tours. PRELIMINARY SPECIFICATIONS (subject to change without notice) INTERFACE/CABLING REQUIREMENTS: 10BASE-T ports: Require two-pair Category 3 or better unshielde twisted pair (UTP) cable with standard RJ-45 connectors. Segment length can be up to 100 meters (328 ft). Port 16 is switchable between standard port and uplink port configurations. Auxiliary port: Accommodates standard AUI transceiver for conversion to other media and BNC “T” connection to 10BASE-2 Ethernet bus. LED INDICATORS: Per port: Link/Activity Per unit: Power and Collision • Comprehensive array of LED indicators for monitoring operation and troubleshooting faults, including link/activity indicators on all 16 main and two auxiliary ports, a collision indicator, and a power indicator • Switchable uplink port allows cascading hubs for creating larger, more complex networks with standard Ethernet patch cables • Overtemperature sensor with LED warning indicator and buzzer alarm • Auto-sensing power supply operates on 90 VAC–250 VAC, suitable for use world-wide. • Meets applicable international safety standards COOLING: Convection POWER REQUIREMENTS: 90–250 VAC, 50–60 Hz, autosensing. Maximum 50 watts. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Operating temperature: 0 to 50° C Storage temperature: -20 to 70° C Operating humidity: 0 to 80% RH Storage humidity: 5 to 91% RH DIMENSIONS: 19” W × 1.75” H × 4.2” D (48.26 cm × 4.45 cm × 10.72 cm), with detachable rack mount ears WEIGHT: 6.5 lbs (3 kg) net STANDARDS COMPLIANCE: Complies with IEEE 802.3, 10BASE-T standard EMI CERTIFICATION: FCC Class A; CE mark SAFETY AGENCY COMPLIANCE: UL, CSA, TÜV/GS; LVD certified ©1998 QSC Audio Products, Inc.
