HYBRID 6 The new Hybrid woofer drive unit, manufactured in compact and slim dimensions, uses a magnetic system combining two types of magnets, neodymium and ferrite, to create a motor of tremendous power. The unit is rear vented and incorporates a C.A.R.( (Controlled Acoustic Resistance) filter that controls the cone movement allowing for air circulation through the venting to cool the voice coil. IT also controls cone movement if installed in larger spaces. To reduce cone break-up distortion, even at high levels, Morel engineers have used a large Hexatech aluminium voice coil to support large areas of the membrane. The membrane is made of a single component integrating the centre mid-range radiating dome with the bass cone, producing extraordinarily clear and detailed sound and wider dispersions. The tweeter is the MT-2 neodymium soft dome, also available as separate, hand coated with "Acuflex", a special coating for a smoother linear frequency response. The MT-2 has a large 28mm (11/8") Hexatech aluminium voice coil and is ferro fluid cooled for superior power capability. In spring 2003 the sets will also be available with new MT-22 tweeter. The crossover filter is constructed of high-quality components and has direct hard wiring for high power handling and lower distortion.
