MAINTENANCE & SERVICING
The Drive Shaft (1) has a slot into which a Flat Key (40) is inserted. When the pump’s Drive Shaft (1) slides into the Coupling, the Key locks the pump’s Drive Shaft to the Coupling.
1.
Run an appropriate high-pressure line (not included) from the outfeed of this pump to the infeed of the Hydraulic Log Splitter such as a 4000 PSI hose with 1/2" ID. The outfeed port is located on top of the Back End Cap (22). (See Fig.2.)
In the event that the Pump must be removed from the log splitter, the first task would be to disconnect the hoses. a. Care must be taken to assure oil is not spilled. A pan should be placed under the pump in order to catch dripping oil when disconnecting the hoses.
Remove the Valve Blocks (26, 29) and put a few drops of oil in each of the openings so that the gears do not experience metal-tometal damage upon start up. This unit does not have an oil reservoir. Replace both Valve Blocks.
NOTE: A few drops of oil must be placed in this outfeed port before initial start up.
Run another high-pressure line (not included) from the outfeed port in the splitter to the curved 90º elbow underneath the pump. (See Fig. 2.)
b. Disconnect the upper delivery hose and cap the end immediately to prevent oil from leaking. c. Disconnect the bottom return hose, again capping the end. 2.
Remove the 10mm bolts holding the pump to the Coupling.
3.
Pull the pump back, sliding the pump shaft out from the Coupling taking care not to lose the Key from the shaft. (See Fig. 1.)
4.
Servicing the pump can now be done.
