3 The Hydro Z filtering and structuring unit uses biomimicry. That is, it mimics nature in the way it works. Water possesses invisible attributes which can have negative or positive effects based on their source. We pay attention to those invisible attributes and the Hydro Z was designed to eliminate visible negative particulates and invisible negative energies. The water passes through a media containing natural zeolites, bone char, shungite, quartz, amethyst and tourmaline. In addition, each unit contains an activator cartridge that imparts elemental frequencies into the water which all possess cleaning, feeding and protecting attributes. The activator cartridge is non-sacrificial, which means it never needs to be replaced and will never lose its effectiveness.

Safety Check and comply with your state and local building codes. You must follow these guidelines. Use care when handling the filter system. Do not turn upside down, drop, or allow to freeze.
Installation We highly recommend installing a filter bypass system. In the event you must remove the filter system for repair or due to a leak that needs to be repaired, the water can be rerouted back through the house plumbing. The configuration for a bypass system is show here.

Alternatively, if the connecting hoses you are using to connect your filter system to the house plumbing are flexible and long enough, they can be connected directly using a 1” or ¾” male to male threaded connector. We also recommend the use of a sediment pre-filter to remove particulates from the supply water to prolong the life of the Hydro Z Energizer media. This is particularly important if you source your water from a well.

Installation Procedure 1. The unit is easy to install with a basic threaded 1 inch “IN” fitting and a 1 inch “OUT” fitting. 2. Turn off the main water valve to the house and open several water faucets to drain the pressure from the household pipes. 3. The inlet and outlet to the unit are clearly marked at the fittings. 4. Set the unit in a secure location and secure the unit to the wall by the two screw holes in the top back plate. 5. Install the two shut off ball valves that came with the unit into the inlet and outlet of the filter housings. Potable water safe pipe thread sealant or Teflon plumbing tale must be used around the threads to eliminate the possibility of leaks. 6. Connect the inlet and outlet to the house cold water line. 7. The blue filter housings should not require tightening as they were installed securely, with lubricated O-rings in place, at the factory. If either blue housing is removed, be sure to use the proper procedure to reinstall it. Hand tighten, then using the housing wrench, gently turn the blue housing counter-clockwise (when looking down on top of the system) only tight enough to stop leaks. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN! This will damage the O-ring and create leaks. Remember to your left loosens, to your right tightens. 8. Open the water faucet in your house, and slightly open the ball valves very slowly at a very low flow rate for 3 minutes. This will prevent a high-pressure channel being imprinted within the filtering media. After 3 minutes, open the main water supply line valve fully. It may take a day or two to flush the system of Zeolite dust. This dust is safe to drink and is actually healthy for you.
Filter Media Changes The Zeolite media cartridge should be emptied and refilled with filter material every 6-12 months, or when water quality begins to degrade, or when water-line pressure drops. We recommend purchasing a water test kit to definitively determine water quality. Have a bath towel and a 5-gallon bucket available as a secure place to set the refillable cartridge when you remove it from the blue housing.
6 1. Turn off the ball valves on both sides of the unit. Push the red buttons on the top of the unit to release the canister pressure. Water will seep from around the buttons when you depress them. 2. Using the filter housing wrench, loosen Zeolite filter blue canister counterclockwise and remove it. 3. Remove the white internal filter cartridge and place it in a 5-gallon bucket and empty the water from the blue housing into the bucket, sink, toilet or outside. 4. The white refillable cartridge has a screw-on bottom. Remove this end and dump the media out in your garden or yard, saving the activator cartridge. The minerals will provide a healthy environment for your plants. 5. Wash out the cartridge and clean the polypropylene pad. The polypropylene pad provides sediment filtration and prevents media from being released by the cartridge. 6. Carefully place the activator cartridge tube inside of the canister and carefully scoop media into the cartridge and around the activator cartridge keeping the media cartridge centered. While slightly tapping the cartridge on the ground, continue to fill the white cartridge to within 2 inches of the top. Replace the cap along with the poly foam. 7. Place the white filled media cartridge back into the blue canister with the screw-on cap sitting on the bottom of the blue canister. 8. Be sure the rubber O-rings are well lubricated with food grade silicon grease and are properly installed on the top of the blue canisters. Hand-tighten the canister back into the filter stand and then use the housing wrench to tighten only slightly more than hand tight. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN! 9. Slightly turn the water on by slowly opening both ball valves at a very low flow rate for 3 minutes. This will prevent a high-pressure channel being imprinted within the filtering material. 10. Then open the main water supply line valve fully. If a leak appears, tighten the housing only tight enough to stop the leak.

Hydro Z Information Zeolite Zeolites have a porous structure that can accommodate a wide variety of cations, such as Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and others. These positive ions are rather loosely held and can readily be exchanged for others in a contact solution. Natural zeolites form where volcanic rocks and ash layers react with alkaline groundwater. Zeolites are widely used as ion-exchange beds in domestic and commercial water purification, softening, and other applications.
Bone Char Bone charcoal save been used since ancient times for water purification. The tricalcium phosphate in bone char removes fluoride and metal ions from water, making it useful for the purification of drinking water. Bone chars have lower surface areas than activated carbons, but present high adsorptive capacities for certain metals, particularly copper, zinc, and cadmium. Other highly toxic metal ions, such as those of arsenic and lead are also removed.

No-Loss Activator Cartridge Your water structuring unit contains a sealed PVC tube filled with highly photonic minerals.
