I-GUM OPERATOR MANUAL Clemas & Co. Unit 5 Ashchurch Business Centre, Alexandra Way, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, GL20 8NB. Tel: 01684 850777 Fax: 01684 850707 Email: [email protected] Web: www.clemas.co.uk Contents Chewing Gum Removal Machine Warranty details 1. Machine parts 2. Preparation for use 3. 4. Warranty: The Chewing Gum Removal machine should only be operated with the service packs supplied. Using alternative supplies may cause damage to the machine and cause a risk to the operative. Using alternative supplies voids manufacturer’s warranty. Machine parts 5. Carry Handle Back Strap 6. 7. Flexible Hose 8. 9. Lance Grip Exhaust Brush Lid Controls Preparation for use DO NOT OPERATE THE MACHINE WITHOUT READING AND UNDERSTANDING THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE MACHINE IS OPERATED INCORRECTLY IT CAN POSE DANGER TO THE OPERATOR AND OTHERS AND WILL INVALIDATE THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. BEFORE USE, READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING: 1. 2. 3. 4. A Risk Assessment for the works to be undertaken. MSDS Chemical Data Sheet. Risk Assessment for Chemical use. LPG data sheet. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Before inserting the LPG Gas and gum removal chemical correctly fit the backpack to the operator by adjusting the straps to fit. The backpack has been designed to be kept upright at all times when the LPG and gum removal chemical are inserted. This is important to the operation of the machine. Cautions when using the machine: Installation 1. Before operating the machine: 1 Keep the unit upright at all times when operating or when chemical or gas is inserted. Ensure that the machine battery has been fully charged before each 8 hour cycle 2 Remove the Lid using the black Clips The rechargeable battery has been designed to be fully charged BEFORE each use. Only use the approved solution and LPG for the safe use of the machine. Using other consumable items in the machine invalidates the warranty and will lead to damage of the internal parts of the machine and also may pose a risk to the operative. Make sure the operator has read and understood these instructions before attempting to use the machine and is fully trained in its operation. 3 Insert the solution bottle into the square hole in the unit. 4 5 Screw the black cap onto the bottle (which is attached to the unit by a tube) and make sure the tube is pushed as far down as it will go into the bottle. Consumable Items: LPG gas consumption will vary slightly according to atmospheric pressures. The service pack contains 2 x LPG gas bottles, which will last approximately 8 hours. Chemical (2 Litre) will last for approximately 2 hours of continual use. 4 x chemical bottles will last for approximately 8 continual hour’s operation. The Brushes will wear according to the surface being cleaned. Each Brush will last for approximately 4 hours. 2 x Brushes will last for 8 hours continual operation of the machine. Only use the specifically designed brush as this has a jet incorporated for the machine to work correctly. Choose a wire brush for solid urban surfaces such as concrete, natural stone, tarmacadam, asphalt and other common urban surfaces. Choose a nylon brush for soft surfaces such as manmade flooring, sandstone etc. Choose the green carpet nylon brus wooden flooring, entrance matting and heavy-duty carpet. Remove the cap from the chemical bottle. 6 Screw the 2 LPG gas cartridges onto the gas valve manifold ensuring that it is tightly connected and place these into the unit. Ensure the orange hose is pushed down. 7 8 Turn the 2 gas valves on. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Always complete a test patch on the above surfaces to make sure no damage occurs to the flooring or surface. Service Pack: When a machine is purchased, it require a service pack. Each service pack provides a continuous 8 hour operation and consists of: 2 x LPG Gas Cartridges 4 x Chemical Bottles 2 x Brushes 2 Replace the lid securely by the 2 clips either side & ensure pipes/cables are not snagged. There is a safety switch which operates the gas solonoid on the lid. 9 Screw a wire or nylon ecogum removal brush onto the end of the Nozzle of the Lance. 3 Safety Data Sheet Installation 2. according to 1907/2006/EC, Article 31 GUM REMOVER SOLUTION Turning ON the machine: 1 Make sure the speed controller is set at 12 o’clock facing directly upright in the off position ‘0’ 2 Turn the pump/gas/fan on by pushing the red switch to the postion 1 3 After approx. 5 seconds push the red starter button until you hear the unit ignite, then release. If machine does not fire up start re-check instructions from 1. 4 The unit will take about 3 minutes to heat up. Slowly turn the speed controller to number 2 and wait until the brush starts to steam. After 1 minute adjust as neccessary. A small adjustment may be required on the speed controller depending on what type of surface you are removing the gum and how much fluid is required. Using the machine: 1 2 Place the brush on the piece of flattened gum and wait 5-10 seconds. Agitate the flattened gum with the brush until you see it disintegrate by using circular motions – do not scrub or apply pressure. The weight of the lance with agitation is all that is required. 3 Remove the lance from the gum and use a broom to sweep across the area to ensure the gum has been destroyed or if further cleaning is needed. 4 As gum deposits are all different there will be varying times taken to destroy each piece. Turning OFF the machine: 1 3 5 4 Turn the red switch off which will isolate the machine. Turn gas valves off. To drain the unit, turn the switch ON.. 2 4 Remove the Gas and Chemical bottles from the system. With the speed control at NO.10 until there is no fluid coming from the nozzle at the end of the lance. Turn the red switch off so the pump is no longer working. 5 Safety Data Sheet Safety Data Sheet according to 1907/2006/EC, Article 31 GUM REMOVER SOLUTION according to 1907/2006/EC, Article 31 GUM REMOVER SOLUTION 7-9 6 8 SAFETY DATA SHEET 8.
