Description HDE-2H-QAM (HD Encoder – 2x HDMI/YPbPr-to-QAM) accepts & auto-detects up to two (2) inputs in
unencrypted HDMI[1] and YPbPr (Component) formats. The encoder, when applicable, digitizes & MPEG-2 encodes each input into a high-definition stream (HD-1080i/720p), and then multiplexes the resulting two (2) streams into one (1) output in QAM format in the 5.75-864 MHz range (CATV channels T7-T14 and 2-135). Any combination of input multiplexing is allowed, for example, 2x HDMI or 1xHDMI + 1x YPbPr .

HDE-2C-QAM (HD Encoder – 2x YPbPr-to-QAM) is identical to HDE-2H-QAM, but it does not support the HDMI
input. It accepts only two (2) inputs in YPbPr (Component) format. [1] The encoder does not accept HDCP-encrypted HDMI input. Blonder Tongue Laboratories, Inc.

[1]
The encoder accepts both analog and digital audio inputs. If both inputs are present, the encoder will process the analog as the primary audio source - the digital will become the secondary audio source.
[2]
The encoder accepts analog NTSC Closed Captioning (EIA-608, also known as Line 21) from the HDMI source, digitizes and then inserts it in the MPEG-2 Transport Stream. The encoder does not support EIA-708 caption protocol. 1.800.523.6049

The “Configuration > Video” screen allows user to configure, for each of the 2 inputs, the following parameters: Bitrate: Closed Captioning: Video Filter Level: GOP Size: Input Type:
The sum of all 10 input bitrates must be less than or equal to 38.79 Mbps when selecting QAM 256 modulation Enabled, Disabled Maximum, Minimum, or Disabled from 1 to 20

[1] GOP (Group Of Pictures) specifies the order in which intra-frames & and inter-frames are arranged. Each MPEG-coded video stream consists of successive GOPs. From the MPEG pictures contained in it the visible frames are generated. A GOP can contain the following picture types: I-picture or I-frame (intra coded picture) P-picture or P-frame (predictive coded picture) B-picture or B-frame (bidirectionally predictive coded picture)

It also allows user to assign a value of “0” to the minor channel in which case TVs will pick up that input as a major channel only. This provides user with complete flexibility to position any input on any virtual or major channel.
The “QAM” screen allows user to configure the following QAM RF parameters: RF Channel (T7-T14 and 2-135) Output (On, Off, CW) Output Level QAM Mode (16,32,64,128,256,512, 1024)
