This 10Gb Ethernet server adapter takes full advantage of the PCI-X 2.0 bus architecture. It doubles the data rate delivered by the earlier bus standard, PCI-X 1.0, unleashing the full speed of 10 Gbps. Combined with IBM breakthrough X3 Architecture inherited from the mainframes, it can help data center managers boost network performance to address the explosion of data volume and the need for exponentially increasing bandwidth.
Lower cost and improved performance Capitalizing on industry-standard Ethernet, the IBM 10 Gigabit Ethernet SR Server adapter helps preserve your existing environment: operating systems, network administration tools, core cabling, personnel training, etc., while helping increase network functionality. Improved 10Gb Ethernet performance helps eliminate network bottlenecks (caused by the need to manage and protect increased amounts of mission-critical data), frees-up server and user-level bandwidth, helps improve application response and speeds data backup.
Total compatibility reliability The adapter is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ae 10GbE standards with PCI 2.0 Mode II specifications. The adapter host system interface is a 64-bit, 266 MHz capable bus. The link network interface uses standardized PMD (Physical Media Dependent) devices for interoperability. It includes extensive Telco-class RAS features (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) like ECC memory protection across all functions, and full QoS support (Quality of Service) to offer multiple levels of quality, including guaranteed bandwidth for missioncritical network applications.
Standard TCP/IP—secure and simple The IBM 10 Gigabit Ethernet SR Server Adapter includes full IPv4 and IPv6 support, and comprehensive assists that preserve the TCP/IP stack at the host level. It will scale with the server processor speed helping eliminate the severe safety risks and complexities of nonstandard solutions like TCP/IP Offload Engines and other TCP OS patches. Onboard memory of 32MB drastically reduces performancedegrading link-layer flow control and sensible modular design improves connectivity over multi-mode or single mode fiber.
