..Starting at 1748.00 UK Pounds (2), New ThinkPad Models Combine Intel 300MHz Pentium II Mobile Processor, Windows NT Support, and Advanced System Manageability Features to Meet the Needs of Large, Medium and Small Companies.. IBM today announced new ThinkPad laptop PCs which combine the performance of Intel's new 300MHz Pentium II mobile processor with industry-leading Windows NT Workstation support. Building upon the ThinkPad heritage of leading-edge technology and design, the extensive family provides customers the optimal choice in terms of price, performance and multimedia options. In addition, the new models announced today come with euro-enabled keyboards for both Windows 98 and Windows NT operating system environments. Advanced Performance and Windows NT For businesses deploying Windows NT or planning to do so in the future, the new ThinkPad 770X, 600E, 560Z and 380Z models support Windows NT Workstation version 4.0. Tapping the combined strengths of more than 600 IBM Windows NT programming professionals around the world, the new models deliver advanced Windows NT functionality, including full power management, resume on ring and Hot Plug PC Card support. Power management features allow users to manually set timers to control system devices such as the display, hard disk drive and the CPU, further extending battery life. In addition, a low-battery warning alerts users when the battery charge drops below 5 percent. If the battery reaches a critically low level, the systems will automatically suspend, allowing the user to insert a charged battery or switch to AC power without losing critical data. New Models ThinkPad 770X. The new ThinkPad 770X ensures that customers have the power, features and storage necessary to run the most advanced graphics, multimedia and engineering software in the office or out. The 770X is one of the first laptop Page 1
computers to combine the performance of a workstation with full-fledged network management features, superior graphics capability, battery life, memory capacity and internal storage. Equipped with an Intel 300MHz Pentium II mobile processor, premier Windows NT Workstation support, 128 MB of high speed SDRAM upgradeable to 320 MB, and 8.1 GB of built-in hard disk storage (which can be doubled up to 16.2 GB by adding a second hard disk), the ThinkPad 770X (model 7B0), ensures performance and speed for demanding applications. The 13.7-inch active-matrix SXGA display is the only 1280x1024 pixel screen on a notebook computer. Developed by IBM researchers under a project code-named 'Monet', the new 13.7-inch display offered on the ThinkPad 770X (models 7A0 / 7B0) displays imagines with extremely high clarity and detail. Combined with up to 8 MB of video RAM and Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) support, the 770X provides the high resolution capacity necessary for intensive work station-type applications. The 770X's unprecedented multimedia includes a choice of DVD ('DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter' required on model 7B0) or 24X-10X CD-ROM, full MPEG-2 playback, SRS 3D Sound, Dolby Digital audio output and high-quality speakers. The modular design and array of docking alternatives further expand options for future upgrades and reconfigurations. The possibilities range from additional DVD, CD-ROM and hard disk drives to second batteries and removable ZIP 100 or SuperDisk drives (added options). The ThinkPad 770X's three and one-half hour battery life puts it at the head of its class and makes it a truly mobile machine. Coupled with a choice of either Windows 98 or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 operating system, and 13.7-inch SXGA or 14.1-inch XGA displays, the ThinkPad 770X provides just the right balance of performance and portability to enable high-end users to carry their applications around the corner or around the world. Prices for the new 770X start at 3559.00 UK Pounds. (2 ThinkPad 600E. The new ThinkPad 600E series models offer an ideal solution for mobile professionals who need a performance laptop in a portable package, whether on the road or in the office. Designed with desktop computing

capabilities in a highly portable form factor, the new models weigh only 2.2 kg (1) and offer a slim, 3.6-cm profile. In addition to their Pentium II 300 MHz processors, they offer bright 13.3-inch active matrix displays, spacious 6.4 or 5.1GB hard disk drives, 64 MB SDRAM, full docking capabilities, integrated 56K modems, and a convenient front-loading bay that also accepts a floppy disk drive or 24X-10X CD-ROM drive. For increased flexibility, ThinkPad 600E users can swap out the floppy disk drive from the Ultraslim bay and swap in a second battery, doubling their battery life to a full eight hours. If storage is an issue, they can swap in a second hard disk drive, increasing system capacity to 16GB. The ThinkPad 600E is available with a choice of Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or Windows 98. Prices start from 3255.00 UK Pounds. (2) ThinkPad 560Z. The initial launch of the ThinkPad 560 Series helped define the ultraportable notebook product category. While some offerings on the market compromise usability by omitting full-travel keyboards, large displays or even serial or parallel ports, the ThinkPad 560 series remains the notebook of choice for road warriors. With today's announcement, the 560 makes a huge jump in technology leadership with the addition of the Pentium II 300MHz processor in an ultraportable. Two new ThinkPad 560Z models boast 12.1-inch active matrix screens, spacious hard drives (4.0GB or 6.4GB) and 32 or 64 MB RAM, while retaining their super slim 3.1-cm profile and 1.9 kg weight (1). The new configurations include the ThinkPad 560Z model 900, a 233MHz Pentium II system preloaded with Windows 98 with a 4.0GB hard drive; the model 910, a Windows NT version; the model B00, offering a Pentium II 300MHz processor, Windows 98 and a 6.4GB hard drive; and the Windows NT version, model B10. The new models of the ThinkPad 560Z start at 1748.00 UK Pounds. (2) ThinkPad 380Z. The ThinkPad 380Z series, a hugely popular desktop replacement for both large enterprises and small and medium businesses, includes the most affordable ThinkPad that supports Windows NT Workstation. Two new ThinkPad 380Z models feature an integrated design, bright 13.3-inch active matrix displays, Pentium II 233 MHz or Pentium II 300 MHz processors and 4.0 GB hard disk drives. The ThinkPad 380Z series allows users to easily expand capabilities through a

customer-upgradeable hard disk drive, Universal Serial Bus port and an optional enhanced port replicator. The port replicator provides additional PCMCIA slots, cable management for convenient connection to desktop peripherals and input/output ports. Additional features include stereo speakers with a subwoofer, 10X-24X CD-ROM drives and 32MB of memory. Pricing for the new ThinkPad 380Z model begins at 1812.00 UK Pounds.
