ICT Implementation into BER Buildings ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C The Department recommended ICT design methodology for learning spaces follows a 4 Tier approach as follows: ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C To be procured and installed by the Department a. Network Infrastructure – Network Switching, Wireless Access Points, Wireless Control Infrastructure (Server, Wireless Controller, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)). b. Konica Minolta Multi-Functional Device(s) – Providing print, scan, photocopy and facsimile functions. c. Installation and Support – Installation and configuration support to complement existing technical support provided through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). To be procured by schools utilising grant funding provided by the Department a. Interactive Whiteboards – It is recommended that schools select from the three Department Preferred Supplier Panel brands. Positioned in the node of school network where curriculum servers are often located to provide the highest bandwidth capabilities and control over the network.  Layer 3 Enterprise Class switch.  48 Gigabit ports + Gigabit Fibre Module.  Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+). 2 x Cisco Catalyst 2960-S Series Switch  1 x Provided to connect the BER Building to the ‘core’ switch using a fibre optic link.  1 x Provided to enable an extra 48 Network Ports.  Layer 2 Entry-level Enterprise Class Switch.  48 Gigabit ports.  Gigabit Fibre Module for Building Interconnect.  Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+). Lead and Cable Kit  Provided to enable the integration of devices.  Network Patch Leads - Various Lengths.  Fibre Optic Fly Leads. ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C Tier 1 - LAN Items 1 x Cisco 5508 Wireless Controller  Provided to control Wireless Access Points and automatically handle their configuration, load balancing clients providing better coverage and data rates to staff and students.  Uninterrupted wireless access when roaming around school.  Supplied with 4 x Gigabit modules. Tier 1 - WAP Items 8 x Cisco 1262 Wireless Access Points  Provides an Enterprise-class wireless network connection for wireless enabled devices.  Support 802.11n (latest wireless standard).  Data rates up to 600 Mbps to provide access to high-bandwidth data, voice, and video applications.  Cabling and Installation supplied. Tier 1 - Backup Items 1 x 2TB NAS Device  Can be attached anywhere on the school network to provide reliable, automatic, high speed data protection.  The purpose of this device is to provide onsite backup the server supplied in this package.  4 x SATA II drive bays (2 x 2TB HDD supplied).  2 x Gigabit Network Ports.  Supports RAID 0, 1, 5. ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C Tier 1 - Server Items 1 x Dell PowerEdge T610 (School Site Server)  To be physically located with existing school servers, provides Enterprise Identity and Wireless Control, allowing staff and students to logon to the future wireless network using their Ultranet username and password (EduMail for Teachers).  This device is supplied on the basis that it is used to provide the services outlined above, it is not intended to replace existing school servers.  Dell PowerEdge T610 Minimum Specifications:  Intel(R) Quad Core E5506 Xeon(R) CPU, 2.0GHz, 4M Cache.  24 GB Memory, 1066MHz.  4 x 450GB 15K RPM SAS Hard Drives.  2 x Gigabit Network Connections.  LCD Monitor.  Keyboard and Optical Mouse.  16X SATA DVD +/- RW Drive.  Remote Access Card - Gives administrators the ability to remotely configure the server as if they were sitting at the local machine even if the computer has been shutdown.  4 year next business day onsite service. 1 x UPS  To provide battery backup and power surge protection for the site server.  Minimum Capacity: 1000W. ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C Tier 3 - Peripherals 2 x Konica Minolta Bizhub C280 Multi-Functional Devices (MFD) The Department has chosen the Konica Minolta C280 Print as the MFD to supply schools as part of their BER ICT Package. Support: 1800 006 514 ICT Infrastructure and Equipment - Package C Tier 4 - Professional Services Professional Services  Ten (10) hours of TSSP Support for installation and integration of switches, WLC and Server.  Ten (10) hours of TSSP support for installation and integration of equipment.  IBM Australia Ltd will provide systems integration to enhance the ICT infrastructure with the installation and integration of Switches, Wireless LAN Controllers, Wireless Access Points and Server. On delivery of Cisco equipment, schools can and should utilise their TSSP Specialist Technician to connect their ICT within their BER building, for technical advice on this process, see: eduSTAR.  Further details on TSSP support (claiming hours on the timesheet, assistance, etc) will be provided to Specialist Technicians, Contracting Companies and Service Delivery Managers. Cabling and WAP Install  $600 Grant: LAN – Patch leads, fibre fly leads and cables. The cables you are required to purchase to support your Cisco networking equipment are:   Fibre patch leads – to connect your BER building to your school; and  CAT6 fly leads – to connect the data points in your BER building. $1,600 Grant: WAP – Cable and install ($200 x 8 WAPs).
