Important Service Bulletin: e-Brick Earthing SERVICE BULLETIN 1003 Issue 1 - Page 1 of 2 1. e-Brick Earthing – Systems with GEW Power Distribution Units. All new UV systems will now be supplied with a supplementary earth cable on each power distribution unit (PDU). The cable(s) must be connected directly (not ‘daisy chained’) to the main earth bar on the printing press. Its purpose is to common-earth circuits together. Each PDU will still require a direct mains earth connection. Supplementary earth cable(s) must be connected to press main earth bar. Each e-Brick must also have the auxiliary earth connection made to the earth connection block. e-Brick auxiliary earth connection. Earth connection block. 2. e-Brick Earthing – Systems without GEW Power Distribution Units. For those systems that do not have a GEW supplied power distribution unit an individual earth cable is supplied and fitted to each e-Brick. These earth cables should be connected directly (not ‘daisy chained’) to the printing press main earth bar. Connect to printing press main earth bar. Note: To maintain good earth continuity it is important to make sure that each printing press frame is adequately earthed to a common earth bar. A schematic diagram is shown overleaf. Keep all earth cables as short as possible.
