Inspection Instructions Junction box v0 Type: Solexus DISCLAIMER: Scheuten Solar Solutions is not Scheuten Solar Holding In March 2012 Scheuten Solar (in particular the company Scheuten Solar Holding BV and its subsidiaries) went into bankruptcy. This bankruptcy is handled by the Dutch insolvency receivers of Boels Zanders Lawyers Venlo (the Netherlands). In April 2012 Aiko Solar acquired the brand name “Scheuten Solar” and founded the new company Scheuten Solar Solutions BV with the intention of carrying the well-known and respected brand name “Scheuten Solar ®” for its new activities. Besides sharing the same brand name, Scheuten Solar Solutions has no legal relationship with Scheuten Solar Holding. Unfortunately, the new company Scheuten Solar Solutions is now confronted with the below-mentioned junction box failure on the products of the former Scheuten Solar Holding. Although we have no legal connection to this former company, we feel that, as owners of the Scheuten Solar brand name we need to inform and assist you to the best of our ability. It is for that reason that we initiated this communication and inspection manual, however without taking any responsibility or accepting liability for past activities carried out by Scheuten Solar Holding and/or its subsidiaries. Instructions for inspection of Solexus-Junction box.
1. Steps as described in the flowchart displayed below 2. Disconnect installation from grid 3. Check if junction box is Solexus or Kostal ( pictures A+B ) , only Solexus junction box need to be opened 4. Open junction box lid as showed in repair handbook 5. If charring or discoloration is seen on connector or PCB , stop inspection and replace PCB and cable 6. Check possible failures (1,2,3,4 ) as shown beneath on the photo’s and repair when failures are seen 7. Close junction box lid 8. Mark junction box lid with a. “white X” if junction box ok b. “white O” if contact wrong installed and contact has been corrected 9. Document serial-no from module and junction box and kind of defect

Junction Box PCB contact inspection It is advised to check your system by making a digital image of the junction box. A simple and easy way to make a standardized picture with the same magnification is by using a microscope unit. An alternative for this microscope is by using a digital camera from a fixed distance with a fixed magnification (see Add. 7). Installing and using the microscope unit. A microscope is a delicate instrument, please handle with care. Installation Install the supplied software on the computer according to the “Quick installation guide of DinoCapture 2.0”. The microscope has been mounted and adjusted in the fixture to get the proper image of the contact on your screen. The microscope is connected to the USB port of the computer. Inspection of the contact. Remove the cover of the junction box with a proper tool.
Place the microscope unit over de junction box and push down gently.

Inspect the contact according to the inspection sheet.
Remove the microscope and turn it 180 degree. Place the microscope unit over de junction box and inspect the contact according to the inspection sheet.
Adjusting the microscope settings.
The focus of the microscope can be adjusted with the knurled dial of the microscope.

Extension lead. To use the inspection microscope on a distance from the computer, an extension cord of 5 meters is available. Using more than 2 extension cords is not tested. - Remove the microscope from the computer - Plug the USB plug of the extension cord in the computer - Connect the power adapter and the extension lead. - Plug the power adapter in the wall plug - Plug the two plugs of the USB hub in the receptacles of the extension lead. - Plug the microscope in the USB hub.

Open ( damaged ) contact in connector in mounted position can be seen under microscope, a clear discoloration from contact or charred plastic can also be the proof that the contact is damaged on the backside if the contact is turned 180 degrees .

Contact is turned 90 degrees in connector housing, contact is only pushed against PCB contact instead pushed on PCB contact. Contact when normally mounted and pushed on is clearly seen ( see microscope image in 3 from ok situation )
