Preparation (Steps 1 thru 4 in supplied complete kit instructions) 1-3 Turn lamps, accessories, and ignition OFF. Disconnect negative battery cable. 4 Wait one (1) minute to assure the air bag system is disabled before proceeding. Install Camera (Steps 5 thru 28 in supplied complete kit instructions) 5-6 Open liftgate. Remove the liftgate pull strap and the grab cup on the bottom of the liftgate using a T30 Torx bit. 7-8 Remove the upper liftgate trim and the liftgate button connector from the upper liftgate trim panel. 9-10 Remove pushpins from the rear window latch trim using a pick and remove the lower liftgate trim. 11 Remove two nuts fastening the rear wiper motor to the liftgate and wiper motor wiring harness. 12 Close liftgate and remove wiper nut using a 10mm socket. 13 Remove wiper and disconnect the washer fluid line from the vehicle. 14 Remove wiper motor exterior nut using a 28mm socket and remove wiper motor from inside liftgate. 15 Affix Camera Mount Template to the center square depression on liftgate appliqué, and use a punch to transfer three hole centers. 16 Remove Template and drill three 1/8” pilot holes in the appliqué where the transfer marks were made. 17 Use a 3/4” drill bit, center hole saw, or sheet metal cutter to cut the hole in the center of the Template. 18-19 Use a 5/16” drill bit to drill the remaining two holes on the Template. Use a deburring tool to clean the holes. 20-21 Affix the Camera Harness Pass Through Template using masking tape and use a transfer punch to transfer the center to the sheet metal. 22 Drill a 1/8” pilot hole through the liftgate sheet metal where the transfer mark was made. 23-24 Use a ¾” drill bit, center hole saw, or sheet metal cutter to cut an opening in the liftgate and apply supplied ZTech. 25 Route connector end of Camera Harness through the 3/4” hole in the appliqué then through the 3/4” hole in the sheet metal. 26 Attach Camera Harness to Camera Mount using two supplied Phillips Screws. IMPORTANT: Do not over tighten. 27-28 Insert supplied Well Nuts into the two 5/16” holes in the appliqué, and use supplied Phillips Bolts to attach the Camera Mount. Install Chassis Harness (Steps 29 thru 45 in supplied complete kit instructions) 29-34 Remove the liftgate sill plate, headliner garnish, the driver’s side D-pillar panel. Disconnect the speaker wire in driver’s side D-pillar. Remove the pushpin in the left side edge of the headliner. 35 Route the Chassis Harness under the leading edge of the headliner and towards the driver’s side D-pillar. 36-38 Remove both ends of the electrical bridge between the liftgate and rear of the vehicle. Route the supplied Chassis Harness through the bridge, and down the D-Pillar behind the trim. Remove driver’s side third row seat. 39-40 Starting from the middle of the driver’s side rear quarter trim panel, use a plastic trim tool to tuck the supplied Chassis Harness under the trim panel. Remove the rear driver’s side sill plate. 41-45 Remove front driver’s side sill plate. Using a plastic trim tool, route the supplied Chassis Harness behind the lower C-pillar trim, along the rear sill plate, under the B-pillar lower trim, and along the driver’s side front sill plate. Connect Aftermarket / NAV Display (Steps 46 thru 61 in supplied complete kit instructions) 46 If needed, install aftermarket display/ Navigation display as per instructions. 47-49 Remove driver’s side end of dash cover, front driver’s side kick panel, and M-BEC cover with your hands. 50 Using a digital multimeter, check for reverse in Cavity 5 at C11/ X11 Light Gray Connector or Cavity 8 of C10/ X10 Gray Connector in M-BEC. 51 If reverse signal is NOT present: A. Check that the bail that secures the M-BEC connectors is fully locked in place. Repeat Step 50. B. If reverse signal is still not present, check fuse block for any blown fuses. Replace any blown fuses and repeat Step 50. C. If reverse signal is still not present, proceed to Step 59. 52-53 Remove parking brake lever using a 10mm socket, and remove the knee bolster using a Phillips screwdriver. 54 Remove Light Gray C11/ X11 Connector or Gray C10/ X10 from M-BEC connector located in the bolster stud by pulling it out with your fingers. 55 Splice green Reverse (+) wire from Chassis Harness to wire in M-BEC C11/ X11 Light Gray connector Cavity 5 or Cavity 8 of C10/ X10 Gray Connector. 56 Remove brown C12/ X12 Connector from the M-BEC located in the bolster stud by pulling it out with your fingers. 57 Splice the red or pink Ignition (+) wire from the supplied Chassis Harness to the wire in brown M-BEC Connector C12 or X12 Cavity 7. 58 Re-insert both connectors back into M-BEC. Proceed to Step 60. 59 If M-BEC connections are secure with no blown fuses and reverse still is not present, connection at under dash BCM is required: A. Splice green Reverse (+) wire of supplied Chassis Harness to wire in brown BCM X5 Connector Cavity 7. B. Splice pink or red Ignition (+) wire of supplied Chassis Harness to wire in brown BCM X5 Connector Cavity 13. 60 Connect the Ground eyelet of the black wire from the supplied Chassis Harness to the knee bolster stud. 61 Connect male RCA plug from the supplied Chassis Harness to the camera IN on the aftermarket display/ Navigation display. In some cases a RCA extension may be required. (Kit# 6111 can be purchased at Brandmotion for these cases.) Secure Harnesses & Reinstall Vehicle Trim (Steps 62 thru 86 in supplied complete kit instructions) 62-64 Reinstall wiper motor and reconnect wiper motor wiring harness. Reinstall the wiper motor exterior nut, rear wiper and washer fluid line. 65-66 Connect Camera Harness to supplied Chassis Harness, and use supplied Wire Ties to secure to washer fluid line or existing liftgate wires. 67-68 Reconnect negative battery terminal, tighten negative cable nut to 5 N·m (44 lb in), and test system functionality. 69-74 Reinstall knee bolster, parking brake lever, end of dash cover, M-BEC electrical cover, front kick panel, front and rear driver’s side sill plates, mirror bridge wiring cover, and overhead console. 75-86 Coil excess supplied Chassis Harness and secure to existing vehicle wiring using remaining Wire Ties, and reinstall all remaining interior parts. 6500 Instruction Overview 12-15-12.doc
