Installation Instructions BX3607 Subaru Legacy Wagon L Serial No. The front bumper facia needs to be removed for installation of this baseplate. The tie down brackets/tow hooks are removed and the baseplate will mount in their place. The inner grill molding may need to be trimmed. 1. Open the hood and remove the top push pins holding the top of the bumper facia. 2. Remove the push pins on the bottom of the facia also. 3. Pull the fender well molding back (directly forward of the front tires) and remove the 10mm bolt (one on each side), which fasten the fenders to the bumper facia. The plastic bumper facia can now be pulled from the vehicle. 4. Notice on each side of the frame are tie down brackets fastened by three hex head bolts. Remove the tie down plates and set aside. 5. Hold the baseplate up positioned over the bolt holes for the tie down plates. Apply Loctite to the existing bolts from the tie down brackets and loosely bolt the baseplate to the frame. Use 3/8" lock washer with these bolts. 6. Notice that the center braces for the baseplate line up to existing holes on the bottom of the metal bumper. If necessary drill out the holes to allow for the bolt plate to clear. The bolt plates can be inserted into the metal bumper from the bumpers back side. Once the bolts are through both the bumper and the braces apply Loctite and thread a nut with lock washer. 7. Tighten all eight bolts according to the Torque chart located in the General Instruction Sheet. 8. Replace the bumper facia. Dimensional variations between otherwise identical cars can be considerable, it may be necessary to trim the bumper facia to fit properly. 9.
