C Clean and dry the inside of the closure base with the P/F wet/dry wipes provided to remove grease and other residues. 2. • • • 1 x Instruction Sheet 6 x Small Cable Ties 3 x Large Cable Ties Clean cable with Wet & Dry wipes to remove all residues & grease. V 2.3 Issue date: 11/03/16 3. brade cable 150 mm from strip point A using tape supplied. Clean cable again with PF Wet & Dry wipes after abrading. Wet & Dry wipes after abrading. 5. nsure all chambers are Cleaned and dried with PF Wet and Dry wipes prior to use, where chamber E access is limited use a flathead screwdriver as shown in the picture above. For large main ports abrade the port circumferentially using the P40 abrading strip provided. Re – clean and dry main cable port after abrasion using PF Wet and Dry wipes provided. 6. hoose size of cable entry knockout. C Use screw driver to knock out cable. Turn screw driver to remove sharp edges within the hole. 7. lean cables again with PF Wet & Dry C wipes. Insert cables into base using selected port. 8. lide the cable retainer into the receiving S slot on the closure base. 9. ttach cables to retainer using small A cable ties provided. 4. etermine the cable layout and cut the D D grommet to suit. Grommet allows 5 large & 4 small cables. V 2.3 Issue date: 11/03/16 10. Secure the closure to the pit guard using reusable cable ties supplied. 12. 14. Seal cables to base of closure using putty to create a dam to prevent sealant form escaping. Place ‘O’ rings into grooves on the closure base after the sealant has cured and jig is removed. Apply lubricant. 11. Install cable jig as shown and finger tighten to closure base. Secure cables to jig with cable ties. Ensure cables are retained & separated. 13. Secure cables to jig. Dispense sealant. Follow instructions with closure sealant 10B. Fill sealant to top of cable port. 15. Ensure ‘O’ rings have a thin film of lubricant (supplied) applied to entire O ring surface. V 2.3 Issue date: 11/03/16 16. 18. Pressure test with Extra Small Dome Tester and hand pump 30 minutes after sealant application. Recommended to pressure test all new closures installations using leak detection fluid at the base of the closure. Align dome pins with key hole in base. Push down dome fully and rotate clockwise to lock dome to base. 17. Remove 30g silica gel from the bag. Sign and date label. Place 30g silica gel into mesh bag and tie to conductor bundle. Replace the silica gel each time the closure is opened. Silica gel changes form yellow to green to indicate it is to be replaced. 19. When fully engaged in locked position a click / positive deadlock stop will be achieved. Notes :- Critical steps installing closure 1. It is important that the Cable is restrained, so they do not move cables while sealant is setting. ase of the closure is secure while pouring sealant 2. B and the number of cables within the closure are limited to what we recommend. are abraded & cleaned and separated, using 3. Cables the Cable Jig etc and cable ties. Securing the cable to the guards also helps separate and retain the cables. 4. If room available in closure a larger silica gel bag 20. can be used. When fully engaged – insert locking pin through holes to lock dome in position. Sealant level equals top of port 6 Sheath cut air core 9 10 Abrade cable 50% more circumferentially abrading use P40 or P60 Abrading cloth Use Cable retainer to retain cables in position and stop movement For air core cables cut and remove all tie wraps and splay conductors to allow flow of sealant around the conductors to form a water block Dispense sealant. Spacing of cables is vital to ensure effective seal. Note: for sealant dispensing please refer to instructions provided with Dexbond sealant 10B. Immediately after sealant application, gently rotate conductors on air core cables to allow sealant to flow around conductor bundle. Wait at least 30 minutes before closure is moved.
