INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR HIP UNDERSINK WATER FILTER Step 1 - Inventory Parts Received 1. This Instruction Sheet 2 . Filter System (assembled) 3 . Mounting Bracket with 2 - self tapping mounting screws 4. Designer Ceramic Disk Faucet 5. 2 – 4’ lengths of plastic tubing
Step 2 - Install Filter Housing 1. Select a suitable location for the filter housing under the sink. a . Location should be reasonably accessible for filter cleaning and/or replacement. 2. Mount the bracket approx. 15-24” above the floor of the cabinet, 24” if possible. (This makes it easier to replace the filter element). Secure the bracket to the sink cabinet in the desired location with the two (2) self-tapping screws.
Step 3 – Install the EZ Adapter Valve 1. Turn off the cold water supply valve under the sink . If there is no valve , turn off the water to your house at the main meter. 2. Open the cold water faucet to let off pressure. Make sure the valve is off and the faucet is not dripping. 3. Unscrew the nut from the top of the shut-off valve on the cold water supply line. 4. Wrap the exposed threads with a little Teflon tape and install the EZ adaptor on the exposed threads and tighten. 5. Re-install the nut with the cold water supply line onto the top of the EZ adaptor fitting and tighten . NOTE: Make sure the shut-off valve on the EZ adapter fitting is turned to the off position.
Step 4 – Install the Ceramic Disk Faucet 1. Select a suitable location for the drinking water faucet o n o r as close to the sink as possible allowing suitable space under the sink for assembly . Drill the sink top with a 1/2 " bit to accommodate the f aucet inlet pipe stem. 2. Follow the separate (attached) instructions to install the faucet.
Step 5 – Install the Connecting Tubes Use the two pieces of the 1/4" plastic tubing to connect the plastic push-fit fittings between: a. EZ adaptor (cold water supply) and the water filter head INLET b. The second piece connects the filter head OUTLET and the faucet. NOTE: Allow at least an extra 1- 1/2" inches on each e n d o f t he t u b i n g piece as the tip of the tubing will travel about 3/4" into each fitting to seat properly. Seat the tubing firmly into the push-fit plastic adaptors on the EZ adaptor , the filter head and the faucet
Step 6- Start-Up 1. Open the faucet fully by lifting the lever to its vertical position to allow trapped air and
water to flow out of the system. 2. Using the EZ adaptor, turn water on at the valve inlet of the cold water supply. Turn
valve on the EZ adaptor. A f t e r a b r i e f t i m e a n d s o m e g u r g l i n g n o i s e s , w ater should start flowing out of faucet 3. Flush the system for five to ten minutes before using the water, some residual c a r b o n
particles may be expelled during this flush; this is normal. 4. Note and record the date; check the condition of the filter element in about six months,
or earlier if flow rate drops off noticeably.
Cleaning and Maintenance (For CERAMETIX filter only) 1. If your water supply contains a lot of particulates, the flow rate from the filter may drop
rather quickly. If this happens, the CE R MT X cera mic filter can be cleaned. The AQMTX (with the blue mesh) filter is NOT cleanable. 2 . Shut off water supply to filter water line. Turn on faucet to relieve water pressure. 3. Remove the ( C E R M T X ) ceramic candle from housing. The AQMTX (blue mesh outer is not cleanable) 4. Scrub the candle , using a scouring pad (3M ScotchBrite pad recommended) under a running cold water faucet to remove the accumulated material and expose a fresh w h i t e ceramic surface. 5 . DO NOT USE SOAPS , DETERGENTS, OR BLEACH TO CLEAN THE CERAMIC CANDLE.
Troubleshooting 1. No flow of water through the system: a. Check the plastic tubing for kinks, or obstructions. 2. . Water leaks: a. at the EZ Valve: inspect and tighten the connections b. at the push fittings: inspect to be sure tubing has been fully seated . Push tubing
in firmly c . at the housing: verify that the housing has been fully tightened.
