2) INSTALLING THE FOLDING HINGE. Put the hinge on its final position. Attach the base to the ground by means of eight M14 threaded steel holders. Put a flat washer, a grower washer and a M14 nut on each one. Tighten the nut with a spanner as shown below.
Once the base has been attached to the ground it can be folded easily. Do it carefully in order to prevent injuries.
3) INSTALLING THE SUPPORTING POLE ON THE HINGE.
Align the four pairs of 14mm holes spaced 90º with the slots as shown in the previous photograph.
Install eight M12x50 bolts and nuts, the corresponding 8 flat washers and the 8 grower washers to attach the monopole to the hinge.
Install the eight pairs of M14x50 bolts and nuts, the 8 flat washers and the 8 grower washers to attach the bending plate of the base hinge to the base as shown. This will prevent the hinge from opening.
NOTE: Although four bolts are enough on each case (four for the attachment of the pole to the hinge and four to attach the hinge to the ground) to hold the structure safely, it is strongly recommended for safety reasons to use all of them as detailed before.
The photograph below shows the monopole attached to the hinge.
To fold the system, remove the eight M14x50 bolts around to free it from the hinge.
4) INSTALLING THE MONOSECTOR ANTENNA. Transportation: Use the slings provided for that purpose.
Bottom
Top
Remove the protecting plastic panel to access to the bottom part of the antenna.
Bottom part of antenna exposed.
The antenna model and serial No. can be easily seen inside the radome of the monosector antenna:
WARNING¡: DO NOT LEAVE THE ANTENNA STANDING VERTICALLY TO PREVENT DAMAGES. FOR SAFETY, PLEASE ALWAYS LEAVE IT LYING FLAT ON THE FLOOR.
INSTALLATION: Steps to be taken: (i) Attach the monopole to the hinge once installed on its position.
(ii) Fold it down.
(iii) Attach the monosector antenna with the monopole down by using the 8 sets of M8 bolts, nuts, flat washers and grower washers supplied. There are 16 holes on the top flange of the monopole, therefore you can do a gross orientation of the antenna (in 22,5 degree steps) by selecting the desired alignment of the holes on both the monopole and the monosector flanges.
(iv) Erect the whole system by lifting the body of the monosector antenna.
Note: Always use two people to pull it up once installed.
5) INSTALLING THE OPTIONAL LIGHTNING ARRESTER.
Install the lightning arrester as shown in the photograph above. The lightning arrester must be properly grounded to avoid damages on the monosector when lightning strikes the arrester. Connect the grounding cable from the monosector antenna to ground as shown in the photographs below.
The monosector system must be properly grounded. Please connect the main grounding line to the main grounding point shown below.
WARNING: If it became necessary to remove the lightning arrester from is position please ensure that the arrester holder does not get unsealed after the operation. If it became unsealed please use grey polyurethane paste to seal it back again.
WARNING¡: NEVER LIFT OR CARRY THE MONOSECTOR BY PULLING FROM THE LIGHTNING ARRESTER.
6) INSTALLING THE MODULES ON THE HOLDING BAR. a) KATHREIN Module: 78210652 and 78210653. The equipment can be installed either directly to the equipment bar or with the bar installed onto the monopole, whatever suits you best, by using the two straps supplied.
Fasten the straps by pulling from the ends by using pliers. Cut the extra length of strap.
The photograph above shows the equipment module once installed on the holding bar.
Insert the feeding cables through the hole as shown above and connect to the inputs of the module. Connect the module to the panel antenna as shown below.
The photograph below shows the equipment module once installed inside the mast.
b) KATHREIN Module: 78210579. As before, the equipment can be installed either directly to the equipment bar or with the bar installed onto the monopole, whatever suits you best, by using the two straps supplied. The photos below show the UMTS module once installed. The GSM900 and GSM1800 cables go directly to the antenna.
7) INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL UNITS. Install the RCUs as shown in the photograph.
If not RCUs are to be used the downtilt can easily be adjusted manually by rotating the TILT ADJUSTMENT KNOBS while looking into the two peep holes on the sides of the monopole (in case the antenna was not pointing towards the main door). The tilt scales are easily seen through the peep holes as shown below.
8) CONNECTING THE PANEL ANTENNA. Example No.1: The photograph below shows the connection of KATHREIN panel antenna models 80010290V01 and 80010291V02.
Example No.2: Connection of KATHREIN panel antenna model 80010292V02.
For other models please refer to KATHREIN panel antenna datasheets (www.kathrein.com).
9) FINE ORIENTATION OF THE MONOSECTOR ANTENNA. Loose the eight M12 bolts as shown below to free the monopole from the hinge.
Orientate the monosector antenna as desired. The curved slots will allow a fine adjustment of the azimuth. The ORIENTATION PLAQUE must be used to do a proper orientation of the monosector antenna by means of a telescopic visor.
Fasten securely the eight M12 bolts to attach the monopole to the hinge.

11) MONOSECTOR SYSTEM MODEL.
The deflection on top is 9,448mm for 160 Km/h wind speed. Deflection angle on top for 160 Km/h. Atan(9,448/3700)=0,14 degrees.
The maximum weight of the system is 125 Kg approximately. A square base plaque with a surface larger than 0,65x0,65 m² over 25mm grout is needed to achieve a total pressure on the roof below 300 Kg/m².
RECOMMENDED SIZE AND WEIGHT OF SELF-SUPPORTING BASE: It is recommended a supporting base with a total surface of 1,5 meters x 1,5 meters and weight of 400 Kg. The antenna system must be installed at the centre of the base. Calculated for an antenna system 4 meters high (antenna + monopole + base) and 330mm diameter. The total weight of the system will be: Max monosector antenna weight + Monopole weight + Hinge weight = 114 Kg. Max base weight = 400 Kg. Total weight on roof = 114 Kg (antenna system) +400 Kg (base) = 514 Kg. Total surface of self-supporting base= 1,5m x 1,5m= 2,25 m². For a maximum pressure over roof = (514)/2,25 = 228 Kg/ m² < 300 Kg/ m².
