1 General The database system in GTS 5.1 is upgraded to comply with Microsofts development of more modern and robust programming languages and databases. The programming has now been done using the object oriented Visual Basic .NET instead of the former Visual Basic 6.0 and the data is stored in a SQL Server 2005 database. The installation comprises the following steps:
Installation of the basis software Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. (If not already installed)
Install MSXML 6.0 SP1
Install SQL Server 2005 Express
Install GTS 5.1 software on one or multiple computers in the network.
NB! Installation of the software requires that the user have full administrator rights on all affected computers and servers

1.1 System requirements

2 Installation of Microsoft basis software GTS5.1 requires Microsoft Installer V3 or newer prior to installation... Microsoft.NET framework 2.0 and MSXML 6.0 SP1 is bundled with the software package, and will be installed if necessary.
3 Installation on server or stand-alone computer. SQL Server 2005 Express or equivalent is required by the database. If a SQL server already exists, the database can be installed directly to this. SQL server is very rarely uninstalled, and ONLY in co-operation with the IT-dept.
3.1 Installation
Locate and run the file setup.exe from the CD or from a pre-selected folder.
Select Install and yes when asked to install SQL Server 2005 Express If the SQL Server 2005 Express is already installed, the program will continue to the installation of the GTS 5
If the installation of the SQL Server 2005 Express was successful, the program will continue with the installation of the GTS. For possible error messages, see chapter 6. Trouble shooting

Select Next or change folder
Installation complete! Select Finish

4 Installation on a client computer
Locate and run the file setup.exe from the CD or specified folder.
If the SQL Server 2005 Express is not installed on the computer, the installation wizard will suggest to install this. Select Install, but select No when asked to install the SQL Server 2005 Express
Select Next
Select I Accept and Next

Select Next or change folder
Select Install
The installation is complete! Select Finish

5 Upgrade to a newer version of GTS 5.1 5.1 Important before upgrading: 1. Make a note of which SQL server the existing GTS database uses 2. Uninstall the existing version of GTS 5.1 SQL server is NOT to be uninstalled. 3. Run the setup.exe of the new version, or run Scan Secure GTS 5.msi if this is supplied instead. 4. Follow the guide below:
Important! When prompted to install the SQL server, select NO!
Select Run
Select Next
Select I Accept and then Next

6 SQL server and maintenance 6.1 Connect Client PCs to the SQL server Start GTS 5 by clicking the GTS Icon, then select Advanced in the login window.
For server and stand-alone installations, no changes does normally need to be done here The Setup should only be changed in co-operation with Scan Secure or your ITdepartment
Select or enter the path to the SQL server
If required: Enter valid user name and password Select the correct database Test the connection to the SQL server, by clicking: Test connection
Press: Ctrl+Alt+S to enable button
Important! After the upgrading, the database must be updated to the latest version See chapter 6.3. Database update

6.2 Import and restore database This option is used to restore database after computer crash. Or during installation, when a customized database is provided.
Press: Ctrl+Alt+S to enable button
Select imported database, and click Restore selected
Click Import and locate database to restore
Important! After restoring, the database must be upgraded to the latest version See chapter 6.3. Database update

6.3 Database update Having upgraded the GTS 5 application, it is important that the database is updated to work properly. See the instructions below:
Press: Ctrl+Alt+S to enable button
Important! Run script 1 to 5 The script files for the database, is found either on the CD or in the program Installation folder

6.4 Additional backup In GTS 5 there is an option to select additional backup. Selecting this will place a additional backup of the database at a user specified location. This is done to further prevent data loss. See instructions below:

6.5 Client license update When installed, the GTS will only have a demo license activated. A demo license does only allow the user to enter 30 new rounds into the system. Objects may not be used with a demo license. To update the license to your purchased license, start the GTS application and select License in the Login window. Tip! The login window shows the remaining days of the current license. A warning will be given when it is less than 1 Month left of your current license.
Send Lisens request key, computer name and GTS5 version to
[email protected]
Having received the new license from Scan Secure, select Set new license and enter the new license key followed by OK. Close the window by selecting Close

7 Troubleshooting
If the GTS 5 stops working, or errors occurs and a restart of the GTS5 does not solve this problem, it is recommended to start the installation of GTS5 and select repair
Error messages occurring after the upgrade, may be caused my missing running of scripts. See chapter 6.2
Problems removing the Microsoft SQL 5 Express in connection with reinstallation. In some cases, parts of the SQL 5 Express may not be removed during the uninstallation. This may cause problems starting the service again after the reinstallation. Please perform the following in this case: o Stop all SQL services that are running o o Check that there are no SQL components left under Add or remove software o Alternatively install and run the program msicuu2.exe (Windows Installer Clean Up Uninstall) which may be found on the GTS 5 CD and remove all components marked SQL o Delete the folder Microsoft SQL Server found under Program files Important!!! Make a backup of the GTS database files first! (Located under: C:\Program files\Microsoft SQL Server \MSSQL.1 \MSSQL\Data) o Edit the Registry and delete all entries of SQL and MSSQL under My computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\ Services o Restart PC o Perform a new installation of the GTS 5
Error 27 occurs during upgrade This may occur when upgrading from older 5.1 installations, to newer versions. This problem is resolved by first unistall the GTS5.1 before you install the new GTS5 version. It is NOT necessary to uninstall the SQL server.
